Close ties with India in Obama era
India being the biggest democratic country and America the most powerful democratic country the relationship between the countries should come much closer in all the areas. Since Obama is different and his understanding on Indian issues will be seen in new point of view and the friendship should grow much stronger and the trust between the two countries should increase.
Kashmir in post Obama era
Though Obama in his election speech had very skeptical point of view on Kashmir, but the post Mumbai attacks and after 26/11 has changed Obama's view point and his reaction has already seen by the appointment of ambassador to Pakistan and Afghanistan without the mediation on the Kashmir issue. This is a very positive attitude and as Indian we welcome it. Obama has realized that Kashmir is an issue which can be only solved by India and Pakistan without outside interference.
Counter terrorism in Obama era
Obama Presidency has understood the suffering of Indian's in the hands of terrorists and the proxy war run by ISI and Pakistan Army. Obama has also realised that to have close ties with India and to have Indian cooperation in counter terrorism is beneficial for both the countries.
Sharing Intelligence,
Obama has realized that to counter terrorism in Pakistan and finish Al-Qaeda and to have peace in Afghanistan intelligence sharing is very vital. It is also true that India need American assistance in intelligence sharing. This action has dramatically changed in the Obama era.
Nuclear Issue in Obama era
With better relationship between India and America in Obama era nuclear supplies will go unaffected. The peaceful use of nuclear power in India will help in reduction of electrical power; it will also help in curing diseased and ailing patients. Many cancer patients can be given the radio therapy thus will help those thousands to get their pain relived. All this can be happen because of the good relationship being developed due the Obama.
International problem
With the trust being show by President Obama on Indians will given greater responsibility in solving international problems and will also help in getting permanent seat in UN.

Post a CommentThis was interesting to read. I think Obama has been an unmitigated disaster for the US, so I'm glad at least he might be good for India!
America needs a strong relationship with India and it has not been the case in the past, Pakistan has been the ally and recipient of massive aid from the US. In return we get strategic air bases or if its the case of the 1980's Pakistan and the US created the present day Taliban in order to defeat the Soviets. It's an odd relationship the two countries have and Pakistan needs our support now more than ever, but I think one of the best allies America can have is India, and I hope Obama changes what has been the status quo. After all Indians love the fact that he carries around a Hanuman idol :-)
Wonderful article, with stress on all the important issues!!
