Obama Pays Spain to Create Heat in Arizona Desert

Profits Will Go to the Spanish Company; Taxpayers in the United States Now on Hook

In what is perhaps the Obama administration's most twisted logic to date, they are now paying a company from Spain over $1.4 billion of US taxpayer money so that heat can be created in the Arizona desert.

A Spanish owned project that appeared to be headed for the scrapheap, with no funding in sight, was guaranteed over $1.4 billion of loans by the Obama administration so that they can cover three miles of arid desert with mirrors. These mirrors are intended to create heat, a commodity not already lacking in the 110 degree desert of Arizona. The heat will be used, in theory, to make very expensive electricity that will in turn be sold to Arizona's citizens by the local utility that will first have to purchase it from the corporation in Spain.

Profits will go to the Spanish company, with the taxpayers in the United States now on the hook for the entire loan which exceeds a billion dollars. During the prior two years leading up to the windfall given to them, the Spanish company was unable to attract private investment for this foolhardy plan to gouge the Arizona citizens of what may be their last funds.

In a state that is already reeling from the cost of dealing with illegal immigrants flooding across the uncontrolled international border with Mexico, the extra cost of fancy electric made by some foreign company using funding from the Obama administration may be the last straw.

In what has to be one of the most brazen acts of deception in the Obama administration's history, they are actually bragging that $1 million worth of equipment will be made by American firms for this extravagant project. That works out to less than one tenth of one percent of the cost of the project.

The Obama administration claims that this is a low-risk investment with interest to be earned by the United States. If this was a private project, it would require the disclosure of the substantial risks involved in attempting to use high-priced foreign technology to make heat in a desert. What might help this project are the government mandates that require the fine people of Arizona to buy 15% of their electricity from these unproven and overhyped sources.

It is now quite obvious that the Obama administration and the President himself are simply using clean energy to spread the treasure and wealth of America to foreign countries while increasing the cost to American taxpayers and citizens.
