Obama: Sent from God?

The God Complex Continues ...

Kris B
One rock and roll super star seems to think that President Obama has been sent by God to solve all of the world's problems. In a recent interview, Sting (former lead singer for Police, and more recent solo artist) said, "In many ways, he's sent from God, because the world's a mess." We are certainly fortunate to have such insightful commentary from one so adept at understanding the world's problems, and the solutions that are necessary! After meeting with the President, Sting said that he "found him to be very genuine, very present, clearly super-smart, and exactly what we need in the world."

Sting's insight into the president identifies him as being genuine, but genuine at what? Is he suggesting that he is honest? Does this take into account his constant barrage against anyone who would dare to question his policy, or fact check his statistics? The reporting of numbers concerning "jobs gained or saved" due to the stimulus package has just recently exposed the tendency of this administration to over report information that would make them appear to be doing something beneficial for the country. In reality, the honesty level of this administration is more on par with Richard Nixon than Mother Theresa!

Next, Sting identified the president as being "very present." Surely, he was not simply saying that the president was not "very absent," as in he was there when Sting spent time with him. Perhaps the intent was to identify the president as being up on the modern technology. You would think that being so up to date would allow for the president to make faster decisions concerning important topics such as the war in Afghanistan. Perhaps he just overlooked that email on his Blackberry that requested more troops so that he could win the war. The fact of the matter is, this president, no matter how "present" he might be does not have the tools to make good decisions concerning the wellbeing of this nation. He continues to show weakness when it comes to foreign affairs, and he continually pushes for policy that will damage our capitalist way of life. "Very present" in the liberal way of thinking means "progressive." Being a progressive is another way of saying one is socialist in his thought process. Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, and others of their ilk are identified and praised by those on the left for their progressive way of thinking.

Sting next said that the president was "clearly super-smart." That must be the new-fangled technical term for those who are intelligent. It is clear that the president is a smart man. How else could he finagle his way into the presidency on a paper thin résumé? He was masterful at playing the system, using his charm and shaming the country into voting for him. Unfortunately (for him) those ploys are not continuing to work. He has lost popularity, and is no longer pulling the wool over the majority of Americans' eyes. He is implementing many policies that continue to show his intelligence, like making sure damaging taxes to the medical community will not go into effect until he is safely reelected in 2013. He knows not to mess with reelection; after all he has been running for one office or another for the last 20 years!

Finally, Sting opines that this president is exactly what the world needs. This reflects a mentality held by many on the left: the president, when liberal and running their agenda, is the leader of the whole world. He has some obligation to save the whole world. I am not opposed to helping when we can, that is a responsibility that befalls us as the world's leading (for now) super power. However, this president continues to try to solve the world's problems to the detriment of our own nation's problems! While unemployment runs rampant, he imposes more regulations and taxes on business, driving them from this nation, to other nations around the world. While our troops are in harm's way, he negotiates deals with nations such as Russia to move the very equipment that could protect the troops. He spits in the face of those who have been loyal allies for years, and coddles those who hate our way of life. From Sting's ultra left hand seat at the table, Obama may be just what the world needs, but he is not what this nation needs.

Obama has had a "god complex" for years, and it became very evident during the campaign season of 2008. Left wing celebrities fueling his delusions are not helping with what is needed for our country to remain strong, and return to the financial and security bulwarks that it once was. Battling with news outlets, verbally attacking any citizens that disagree with policy and endangering security interests for the sake of forging relationships with those who are clearly our enemies will continue to destroy our own economy, and make us less safe here at home. For the sake of the nation, President Obama, abandon the left wing extremists of your party, and try to be the president of all of the people!
