Obama Speaks to Congress on Jobs

Here we go again. Our charismatic leader speaks the day after the day we celebrate Labor. Yes, Obama delivers a post-Labor Day speech to Congress on jobs. What can he possibly tell us about that?

Same old, same old
We'll suffer the speech to determine the strategy, but it is expected that Obama will offer some of the same old ineffectual measures. Among them you may hear about creating an infrastructure bank for funding road and bridge improvements, extended unemployment benefits, and maybe more tax holidays for employee payrolls. Do you see how this stimulates jobs? Neither do I.

No clue
Maybe I missed it, but none of this can stimulate the economy either. Throwing Federal funds, aka your tax dollars and mine, at public projects does not create wealth. Despite what the Keynesians say, the government cannot spend its way to prosperity. It never worked before, and it won't work now. But Obama has no clue how that goes.

Real Democrats
Which brings me to what little Obama might know about economics at all. Even John F. Kennedy, a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat, knew that the creation of wealth for the government's benefit comes from the private sector through reduced taxes and incentivizing business.

"Lower rates of taxation will stimulate economic activity and so raise the levels of personal and corporate income as to yield within a few years an increased - not a reduced - flow of revenues to the federal government."

So, somebody please suggest to Obama that he has it all wrong, perhaps bass ackwards at best. At the worst, Obama and his unknowing Congressional cronies will take America down forever. Oh, that we had a Democrat like Kennedy in the White House now! What in the world happened to that Party?

Insufferable speech
You can suffer yet another Obama speech if you dare, but know that another brick will be removed from the shaky mortar of the American economy while you listen. This Labor Day, hold onto whatever job you may have and enjoy your day off.

The next day, deliver yourself from the agonizing irony of Obama's speech on jobs. You've heard those failed policies before.
