Do us, as Americans need to remind you that you took this job out of your free will and choice. Let use remind you, that you spent a lot of money on your presidential campaign in order to be in this position today. This was what you wanted, desired, and worked hard to get. The last thing that we American want to hear is a president whine about everything. Your campaign was about change, and how you are different, and I see that the difference is that when things do not go your way you whine about it all. You like to blame everyone else and anyone who has an opposing opinion. I wish I had this luxury in my life, I wish I could control everything that was said about me, as you are trying to do with the media. I wish I could complain as much as you do about the way things are, and the job tasks that I inherited from the previous person.
I am like all Americans in this great country; I have worked at different jobs and have inherited hand-me-down problems or issues that I had to figure out the solution. I think that this is apart of every job out there, and that this happens to everyone who steps into those shoes. I cannot think of a job that I have had that did not hand me something that was a problem. I cannot count any more the following phrase heard once hired; "oh by the way, you will need to do such and such, or such and such needs to be fixed, modified, corrected, etc." This is a way of life. This happens to all of us, and is what unites all workers around the country and the world. However, according to the press that is not good enough for you. You cannot accept the realities of the Presidency. You wish to complain about how many problems that you have inherited from President G.W. Bush.
At least you knew what you were getting into before you started your new job as President. You were a Senator with inside knowledge of the system. You knew about the financial crisis, about the housing market. You knew what was going on with the war in Iraq. You were aware of the issues with healthcare and you knew that the country was in the middle of a recession with hard times ahead. During your campaign you spoke about all these issues as one who had a plan and an idea, you presented yourself as one that is aware of the problem and that you have talked to people about how to fix the issue. You debated with a number of other candidates along the way, expressing superiority of knowledge of the issues and a plan to correct the issue. You tried to show us all that you are different, but you are not.
So here, it is about a year into your Presidency and all you have done can be summed up in one word...WHINE. You have whined about everything concerning your job. If all you want to do is whine, then why did you take on this job? I do not want to hear my president whine about the job and how hard it is to get things done, to turn things around, or to make the country better. I want to hear how you are taking responsibility, how your programs are making a difference, and how the country will survive no matter what happens or what turbulent times face us all as a country.
In the movie "American President" The character, Andrew Sheppard had a couple of quotes that are worthwhile to mention. The first is about advance citizenship and free press.
"America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country can't just be a flag; the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Show me that, defend that, and celebrate that in your classrooms. Then, you can stand up and sing about the "land of the free"..."
President Obama, we are also tired of you whining about what the media is saying about you. We as Americans have free speech and that includes the press. Therefore, stop picking on the media that you feel is being unfair. We all have a right to our own opinions in this nation. However, you seem to want to control that too via the media and in turn try to control what we as Americans think about you. This is not correct behavior and we do not want to be swept under the rug! We have the right to have an opposing opinion as so does the news media. Please stop whining about the unfairness of certain news media.
The second quote from the same movie, "American President," deals with the way you have come across since you have taken office. Here is the excerpt from part of the same speech:
"Bob's problem isn't that he doesn't get it. Bob's problem is that he can't sell it! We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, Bob Rumson is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections."
Well President Obama, you are a Bob! You want to tell us who to blame and how to be afraid, but I have not seen anything that shows me that you want to solve any problems. We as Americans want a president that is willing to stop the pointing of fingers, to stop whining about the job, and the hardships being faced in trying to get things done. We just want someone that can get the job done. That is what I think us Americans all want from our president.
