Obama: "Under My Plan...Electricty Rates Would Necessarily Skyrocket."

Are Obama's Actions or Lackthereof Behind Rising Energy Prices?

Snidely Whiplash
In the bizarre world of American left-right politics, there's many a slip twixt the cup and the lip. What does that ancient phrase mean, one might ask? Well, it means there are intentional and unintentional results from various actions. Now the question is are energy prices rising drastically due to Obama's promise in January 2008 that "under my plan of a Cap & Trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket."

Has our feckless leader succeeded in his efforts? It would indeed seem so. How do these rising prices, Obama's promises to cause them to "necessarily skyrocket" and the lip service the left plays to fixing our national economic nightmare, dovetail? Do they have a connection? As Glenn Beck forwarded, how would we know? Media is silent about it. Progressives lie like Persian rugs when it comes to the real ends of their policies.

Cap & Trade was/is about relieving global warming, which as science has pretty much finally, grudgingly admitted, is not happening. The left played it off as concern and preemptive politics, but the reality is Cap & trade is totally about using fear mongering to force the nation to accept massive taxation, all in a bogus effort to save this blue marble. As well it was and still is an effort to get the US to accept supranational global governing, a la the UN and the progressive hoped for global climate bodies that would have taken precedence over sovereign law.

But back to my pointed question...is our president doing something or not doing something to cause the massive rise in energy prices amidst the continuing and exceptionally poorly handled recession?

Of course they are in the most basic of ways, in that Obama's keeping the drilling moratorium in parts of the Gulf lends to less supply and more American dependence on foreign oil. Not allowing exploration for new sources of domestic oil allows OPEC to hold down production, thus causing prices to rise. It's basic supply and demand, but as we know all too well, progressive rhetoric does not seem to understand that basic economic concept. As well as Russia is oil rich, when oil is cheap the Russian's have less cash for global meddling and more well able to meddle in geopolitics when oil is expensive. Expensive oil is dangerous to our security...simple as that!

Want to force an end to this trend? Petition your Senators and Congressmen. Pressure them to make Obama tell us what is going on. Pressure them to end the drilling moratoriums in the Gulf and ANWR. I GUARANTEE the minute the moratoriums are lifted prices will begin to fall. So long as OPEC knows they have us by the short hairs, they will indeed pull harder and harder. It's how economics work on their most basic levels.

What kind of a political party would place its agenda over sound governing for a nation, and one on the brink at that? What kind of man is Obama that knows the suffering yet is still wed to his agenda, knowing full well that it's the working family and less well off that suffer? Is working to secure his agenda sound national policy during recession and near 10% unemployment? Is it actually concern for the less well off?

We now know as even Algore has come out and admitted, corn ethanol was a terrible idea. Terrible to convert a basic food and one that is the grain fed to most farm raised meat American's eat, to fuel generation. Terrible in that in the Latin world corn is a staple. Terrible in that Algore admitted "One of the reasons I made that mistake is that I paid particular attention to the farmers in my home state of Tennessee, and I had a certain fondness for the farmers in the state of Iowa because I was about to run for president." Any questions?

Obama has told us on tape he will break this nation to install his agenda. Look around you. What more proof do you need that he and other progressives like Algore indeed mean what they say? They told us they'd break us to get their agenda to law and by golly, broken we are.

The new Congress needs to push Obama on this. Push Democrats to stop supporting the Obama/progressive agenda, at least with regard to energy. This nation can little stand higher energy prices in the midst of terrible joblessness and recession. It's irresponsible to do otherwise. I wonder... is it treasonous? Interesting question, no?

Here, here Lloyd! A damned poor civics lesson indeed. Showing a lack of spine in Republican ranks as well. What an F-ing shame! Just because progressives and stupid people don't understand the 3/5ths compromise is no reason to ignore its importance in our history. It's chickenshit and taking the path of least resistance. And it does nothing to teach the ignorant the truth so the prevaricators can keep up their little story.

Michele ... ummm Mr. Boehner and crew sort of let us down with the Constitution reading deal. They purposely left out the original apportionment or three/fifths clause and they left out the whole 18th ammendment? The Constitution can be ammended, it can be anotated but, it cannot be abridged. That's the law. What a piss poor civics lesson the 112th House gave in it's first 24 hours and first historic act. I hope that's not a sign of things to come.

The "cap and trade/tax" plan, either by legislation or regulation (think EPA) would kill our economy here in Indiana, with all the 'cheap' energy due to our coal fired plants. Many electricity consuming industries are here because of reasonable utility rates. Obama declares economic war with his blatant declaration "Under My Plan...Electricity Rates Would Necessarily Skyrocket." Sigh. Just listen to him. He tells you exactly what he wants...

zombies wake up, I believe the gas prices are up because we are paying for the oil spill and all the payments made to people who lost money at the pump

Whippy, I am encouraged - change is on the horizon! Did you hear how the 112th Congress began yesterday's session? Reading the Constitution of the United States!! Historians say it's a first! "We the people..." echoing thru the hallowed halls...yeah! cheers ;)

What? Politicians work together, in secret, for nefarious purposes? Wow. That sounds like a conspiracy. I guess it might take allowing absolute destruction of the American way to get all the spoiled yuppies to realize this is not a joke, no matter what their favorite television shows portray freedom-lovers as.

Gas prices are up again too...is it still Bush's fault?
