"ObamaCare" Opposition: DOA

Truth and Health Defeat Lies and Death

Nolan O'Brian
If this was an episode of "ER" the surgeon would be looking over the lifeless body of the Health Reform Opposition and saying " I'm calling it...time of death...".
They tried yelling it down in August at various Town Hall meeting...but the yells were answered with sober explanations.
They tried numerous fear tactics: Death Panels, Illegals, Home Invasions...but the truth won out.
They tried numerous distractions: ACORN, Muslim interns, the Olympics...to no avail.
They even tried racist attacks on the president...and when that didn't work Fox News hired a racist doctor as a "health expert". America didn't buy it.
There will be no distracting Americans, when it comes to fixing the terrible mess that the Insurance industry has brought upon this country.
And it is a mess. We live shorter lives, we live less healthy lives, and we Pay More, than any other comparable nation.
Now the final legislation is being worked out and the opposition has played themselves into an insignificant back corner. It's simply amazing that all that bluster and buffoonery has been reduced to a non-factor in the debate. The most important GOP player in this debate is Olympia Snowe...and she foted FOR the Baucus Bill.
The final bill won't even be recognizable to Senator Baucus because he completely blew the whole debate in his committee.
And America will rejoice. Despite the rediculous ranting of Fox News...which still flails away...telling its tiny audience that the U.S. opposes health insurance reform. Fox viewers will finally get the wake-up call "If you only listen to 'What you want to hear' then that's all you'll GET!"
Celebrate America, health care in America is about to be upgraded...the patient is improving. It was in "critical condition" ,,,but now is not only out of danger, but headed toward recovery. Americans may soon see the day when being WELL does not depend on your employment status, your bank account, or your inheritance.

The greed is coming from those who want health care paid for by someone else.

I hope you're right. Insurance companies, corporate interests, and the fundamentalist right-wing will fight reform at every turn. Hopefully, obsession with the bottom line hasn't totally replaced America's heart...greed has grown deep roots during the past few years.
