Obama's Attempt at Morphing into Ronald Reagan is a Complete Failure

Snidely Whiplash
Barack Obama is not Ronald Reagan. Not on his best day as president is he even capable of standing in the shadow of Mr. Reagan.

Ronald Reagan came to power off the disaster of the Carter Presidency. Back in the day we even had a "misery index" to measure just how bad things were in this nation. The entire Carter presidency was one failure after another. To Mr. Carter's credit he did broker a Middle East Peace that has thus far held with Egypt. And in no way do I blame Jimmy Carter for the failed "Desert One" fiasco in attempting to rescue the Iranian hostages. But Mr. Carter was a failed president in the opinion of almost every honest politically aware person of either party.

Mr. Reagan ascended to the presidency as the leader of a nation with no House majority yet he was able to impose his will and have the opposing party vote to go along with his proposals. Reagan did have the Senate as a Republican led body for six of his eight year presidency. Obama was ushered into office with large majorities in both Houses of Congress yet majorities aside his agenda angered and frightened, based on constant polling, the majority of Americans.

Obama lost the House and will loose the Senate in 2012, as well as his job more than likely, because instead of doing the job of what's best for a nation he chose to attempt to implement the progressive agenda. Common sense based on polling demonstrates Obama's myopia or just sheer disregard for the "consent of the governed." The last poll I saw prior to the 2010 midterms was that 40-42% of the nation self-identified as conservative whereas only 19% self-identified as liberal. These polling results demonstrate Obama's unpopularity.

Despite the childishness of the trend, many in our nation are bandwagon jumpers on. They want to sound intelligent, aware and informed as well as wanting to be on the winning side and thus will stick a finger to the wind to see which way it's blowing. Obama's election was the result of a wooing unseen since Casanova spent his days and nights seducing Italy. The election of Obama was a masterful mosaic of ignorant and embarrassingly inexperienced bandwagon jumpers who joined the progressives and run of the mill Democrats to elect a polarizing man in Barack Obama.

It is said Reagan was polarizing as well, but unlike Obama, Reagan built a lasting coalition. Obama's "coalition" was put together with bailing wire and duct tape and as we can see many of his supporters now fall into the "former" category whereas Reagan's coalition still survives in the neocons.

Ronald Reagan actually improved the terrible economic malaise he inherited whereas Obama has worsened the economy of this nation. Obama's fundamental failing is in his complete lack of genuine respect for the citizens and the nation. Ronald Reagan loved the United States. Barack Obama was elected upon a platform of never ending denigration and exploitation of America's failings. Ronald Reagan felt government was the problem whereas Obama feels more government is the solution. Based on this last fact alone, Barack Obama is no Ronald Reagan.

Ronald Reagan was one who knew government was not the answer. Reagan believed in American Exceptionalism whereas Obama has spent considerable time, effort and money trying to inform us and the world that America is not an exceptional place. Only to others in the "denigrate America" camp would such a position sell. Barack Obama uses his office as the bully pulpit from which he proclaims the US a flawed and unfair nation that must be altered.

Let's do a sports analogy. Do fellow fans of a particular team appreciate the one in their midst who are forever running down their team? That is Barack Obama...the "fan" who spends his days telling everyone who will listen what a terrible team he roots for. That does not fly in the long term and the proof of my contention is everywhere around us. Barack Obama is distrusted and seen as untoward as well as having an agenda he will not admit to.

Add in his sacrificing his party for his progressive agenda, which AGAIN as polling clearly demonstrates IS NOT the agenda of the vast majority of the nation and it's easy to see Barack Obama is no Ronald Reagan.

The insistent media and lefty political class will wear this one out folks. "Obama is Reagan reborn" they will tell us over and over as if repetition of the words will make it an empirical fact. It does not. In fact to hear this total untruth repeated over and over will only further polarize Barack Obama.

As well I find it odd that as recently as about the time Obama was elected we heard from many corners, including the RINO's, that "the era of Reagan is dead." So if that were ever true, why then is Obama the second coming of Reagan as media and his sycophancy now maintain? If it were true that Reagan was the ineffective, wrong-headed failure the left swears he was, why now all the glowing comparisons to Reagan? If as the progressives insist, Reagan was such a terrible leader, why are they now so busy telling us Obama is his shadow? Reagan reincarnate?

Let's not forget media and the left assured us at every opportunity that Reagan was a stupid old man and that Obama is the smartest thing to ever suck wind. Why are they now so busy telling us how "Reaganesque" Obama is? Clearly the left knows their hateful denigrations of Reagan were untrue then and empirically proven to be a tool of progressive political hopefulness. The only connection between Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan is they both held the same office. Obama is to Ronald Reagan what cancer is to good health.

Obamanomics = Epic Fail. Here comes the period of state bailouts, the institutionalization of dependency.

Whippy, your informative articles get better and better! You are the Glenn Beck of AC! Your perspectives are reflective of rising public awarness of the beast we elected and his entourage in Congress. But public tide is changing, and you bring us the good news of the "change" real Americans look for. And, Amen, Obama is no Reagan!

You also make a real solid point of exposing how, out of one side of their mouths, Obama lurf-herders denigrate Reagan as somehow "evil," only to conveniently try to anchor Obaaaaaaama to Reagan's memory, emotionally. Which is it? Was Reagan good or bad?

Obama is no Reagan. That is true. Sadly, some will always require a government presence in their lives, just to function from day-to-day. Clever oligarchs in DC have figured out how to exploit those people's emotions too, for their own gain of unearned income and undeserved power. Their cattle may never fully come to the realization of all they gave up in the hopes of getting something for free. Reagan had his own flaws, but at least he tried to encourage people to live their own lives.

maybe he is the evil character on Reagan's shoulder trying to tell him what not to do to make our country great

True JC, but at least the kid aspires and admits to aspiring. If Obama were to man up and admit to aspiring to be Reaganesque I could at least respect him for honesty. Barack Obama and his deeply held wishes and feelings are something we will never know, for one minute he's one thing and the next he's something else. He's an intentional phantasm. We have his words from the past that clearly show he's an uber lefty/progressive who believes gov't is the answer and we have the polling data that shows in the main this nation IS NOT of a similar mind. To try and latch onto the legacy of a much loved by most and equally denigrated by the left Reagan is dishonest, but then that's par for the course of Obama thus far.

That's like a high school quarterback pretending to be Peyton Manning.
