Obama's Birth Certificate: the Proof

Matt Rock
It's an issue that just won't go away, no matter how much evidence is piled up against the conspiracy theorists. To them, this is like the moon walk, the Kennedy assassination, and aliens in Area 51 all together... the concept that our President, Barack Obama, is not a natural-born citizen of the United States.

The conspiracy nuts, fired up by pundits like Rush Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs, and Glenn Beck, think that Obama has never shown a birth certificate proving his citizenship. The ones who've actually seen the birth certificate claim that it's a fake. Nevermind that McCain, Clinton, or any of the other candidates in the 2008 election viewed this as a non-issue. Forget that a number of right-wing publications and pundits have given up on this notion, or have concluded publicly that Obama is truly a citizen of the United States. There's still a fringe element of our society that believes, whole-heartedly, that our President isn't really our President. And if the crowd at Mike Castle's Town Hall Meeting on July 20th is any indicator, the conspiracy seems to be growing amongst the population.

Here's what you've all been waiting for: Substantial evidence from a non-bias source that displays the birth certificate, and the announcement of his birth in the newspaper as well:

Of course, there are people who are quick to claim that Factcheck.org is a bias organization (a claim with no basis or supporting evidence of any kind). There are others who will claim that the birth certificate is a fake, and that the announcement in the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper was somehow retroactively placed to support the conspiracy. But don't ask these people to provide evidence. You're more likely to find supporting facts that ghosts really do exist, and that paranormal investigation is a reputable, recognized brand of scientific research. I've seen foot prints allegedly left by big foot. I've seen the famed Patterson film that apparently shows big foot liesurely strolling through the woods. But I've yet to see anyone provide evidence that debunks the President's birth certificate.

So, why does this myth exist? Well, that's quite simple, really... good ole' fashioned American racism. I'm most likely coming across pretty strongly here, but I fail to recognize any other reason as to why people are clinging to this notion that President Obama isn't really a citizen. His name sounds foreign. His father was born in Kenya. He wasn't famous before his keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. When you take these elements and throw in some racism, what's the end result? People making absurd claims that our country's first black President isn't really the President.

And so, I've decided to counter this stupidity with some stupidity of my own (hey, at least I can admit it!). When 2012 rolls around and the next elections are in full-swing, I'm going to post a myriad of articles demanding to see the Republican candidate's birth certificate. I'm fully convinced that Sarah Palin is at least 25% Martian anyway ("I can see Pluto from my porch!"). The sad part is, President Obama will be up for re-election, and I'm certain that this birth certificate nonsense will still be going on then. So let's counter the conspiracy with our own conspiracy. Whose with me?

This still does not prove anything. What Obama needs to do is present the birth certificate to see if it passes the litmus test. Also while he's at it he might want to give out a little more info about his years at Columbia U. We know he wasn't an honors student as the lists are online for the year he allegedly graduated. We also know that he didn't live on campus, participate in any clubs of join a fraternity. So how did he get into Harvard Law and get chosen as the head of the law review? This is a position reserved for the number 1 student. So Obama was number one at Harvard but won't release his transcripts? I don't think so. I'm no right wing zealot but I know b.s. when I smell it.

Friendly fire! Al, if you'd actually read the article prior to commenting on it, you'd have realized that I SUPPORT the President and was going AGAINST the "birthers" who claim he wasn't born here. This article was matched over on Newsvine by my efforts to debunk eleven "birther" myths and twenty anti-Obama myths. Relax, I'm probably more liberal than you are!
