Obama's Pick to Head Watch-List Review Shows Conflict of Interest, Ideological Problems

Marc Schenker
There's a massive conflict of interest -- along with ideological problems -- in Barack Obama's questionable pick to head the review of the failing watch-list "system" that carelessly allowed terrorist Abdulmutallab to get on board the flight to Detroit to try and blow it up. The questionable pick is one John Brennan, and here are his two biggest flaws as they relate to his ability to be able to conduct a competent and ethical review of the watch-list "system."

Number one is his massive conflict of interest with the very "system" he established and the center (National Counterterrorism Center) whose role is actually meant to be under his review! Folks, take it from me when I opine that this is exactly like the fox guarding the proverbial henhouse!

According to Obama himself, the watch-list review is required to be "thorough" -- which I will define as fair and not compromised -- yet Brennan was actually a career CIA insider for 35 years, who served as interim director of the National Counterterrorism Center (whose role is under review partially because of the failure of it to receive information from the CIA about the Detroit terrorist) and designed the very watch-list he's supposed to now review impartially! I say he obviously cannot conduct such a review!

Not to be outdone by his compromised status from his years in government, Brennan also is compromised from activity in the private sector. From 2005 to 2009, he was CEO of The Analysis Corp., a contracting firm that-get this, now, everyone-was on contract with the National Counterterrorism Center to do watchlisting! And, yes...that would be the very same NCTC he now has to impartially review as the head of the watch-list review! To anyone with half a brain and even a smattering of intellectual honesty, clearly this means that Brennan's former company (TAC) could well be revealed to have come up short in its responsibilities regarding watchlisting that it was providing under contract with the NCTC! Consequently, that begs the following question, Will Brennan be fair and honest enough to tell it like it is if his former company comes out looking tarnished in the review?! That is the heart of the matter when we say there is a blatant and unmistakable conflict of interest in Obama's choice (gee, what a big surprise...like that's never happened before with Obama, right?!).

Setting all this damning and problematic information about Brennan aside just for a teeny, tiny moment-hard to do, I know-Brennan's problems also extend to his ideology, which raises additional questions about whether he (and obviously his boss, Obama) are capable and trustworthy to defend the US against terrorism. Check out this absolutely discomforting video of Brennan shedding some light on his ideological leanings as they relate to how he views terrorism...or, rather, does not view terrorism:

At this point in the giant-and-torturous debacle known as the Obama Administration, I suppose it really is expecting too much to get all the small things Obama promised during his deceptive campaign. You know, really unimportant things like honesty, transparency, ethics...blah, blah, blah and so on and so forth. But, however, compromised and dubious choices like Brennan for what's supposedly, according to Obama himself, a "thorough" watch-list review totally show conservative and Republican accusations against Obama and his administration are 100% correct. Accusations like Obama being weak on terror. Or Obama not being serious about making sure the apparatus is in place to fend off future terror attacks.
