Obama's Speech on Education

Tracy
It's about time.
I don't understand why ANYONE in this nation could be upset about Obama's message to all students of America, aired today. This is our President, the leader of this country, the highest form of leadership in our borders. Why, tell me, is it negative for him to encourage our youth?
This is what we need. We need the President to not only work on our current problems, but our future resolutions. And our future involves the current youth. Our students, our children, and our young people will be the ones running the country soon enough. It is only appropriate that the President address this generation, to encourage hard work and diligence to the people bearing the nation's future mess.
In his speech, Obama said, "What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. What you're learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future." He is letting all of the students out there know that they do have a huge responsibility to this nation, even at a young age.
Okay, so what if you voted for McCain. Get over yourself. Listen to the message. Don't be blinded by your opinions. Obama did not say anything inaccurate or biased or overly political. He simply encouraged students to work hard, to set goals, and essentially to be stubborn to rise out of bad situations and land in a self-determined future.
I think it is a shame that some parents have decided to hold their children from hearing this speech. They are teaching their children to not respect or cooperate with leadership. They are only hindering their children from encouragement and improvement. Obama is trying to unite all of our students and put them on the same plane. He is letting children and young adults know that they are important and that he cares about their success in our nation.
I think it's about time that our President made education just as important as any other political issue. I'm excited about his message. I know that a lot of children are going to listen to that message more than they would listen to their teachers or even their parents. A lot of students needed that specific attention to get them moving. I think we are headed in the right direction and I think that Obama is getting us there.
