Obama's Stimulus Plan Draws Democratic Doubts

Democrats Begin to Express Their Doubts Regarding President Obama's Economic Stimulus Plan

A great deal of focus has recently been placed on the Republican response to President Barack Obama's economic stimulus plan. However, Democrats worked their way into the limelight on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. According to a report from The Washington Post, Democrats on Capitol Hill worry that Obama's economic stimulus plan may "fall short" in its goal of transforming the American economy in the long run.

According to President Obama, his economic stimulus plan is made up of two major aims. The first goal is to grow the economy in the short term by creating new jobs and balancing out the economic decline. The second goal is to establish economic foundations in several key areas-namely energy and infrastructure, as well as health care-that will affect the economy's stability in the long term.

While the Republican critiques of President Obama's economic stimulus plan focus on the rising anticipated costs, Democratic critiques focus on the plan's timeline. The main doubt brought forth by several Democrats has been that the two goals fall short of being compatible. While the former goal is expected to have immediate effects, several points of the latter goal may linger into the next decade.

President Obama urged both parties to support his $825 billion economic stimulus plan in Washington, DC on Tuesday. While he continues to promote his economic plans, it will take work on both sides of the party line to come to a unified decision on the best way to re-stimulate the American economy.

The Economic Stimulus Package is a big step. It shows Obama's willingness to tackle this severe Economic problem. Just like he said he was going to do. So he is a Man of His Word
I have lots of faith in Barrack Obama

Nice quick read. I've read that only .12 cents on the dollar goes to programs that will create jobs and stimulate the economy. I was surprised that our local House of Rep guy Kanjorski was one of the 11 Democrats who voted the Stimulus Plan.

I think that is essential to not only have provisions for the immediate situation but to also have plans for that will provide future benefits-into the next decade. This is a bad situation that took time and oversight to occur, it is logical that it will take time and careful planning and monitoring to overcome. Congrats on the front page!
