Don't get me wrong because if ever someone probably needs to get away from the madness for a while, it's President Obama. I can only imagine how difficult it is to try to run the world, excuse me, the country from that Oval Office. In fact, it's probably difficult just trying to keep your equilibrium in an office that has an odd shape.
I've never really had a desire to be President of the United States. Sure, it sounds good in theory, but I've always liked having a job where I can accomplish something. There's thousands of names you have to remember, the number crunching has to be a nightmare, and somebody's always complaining about the job you're doing. And for all that effort, you still have to buy your food in the White House on a salary that's not even as much as a college football coach makes. Let's face it, if anyone needs a vacation, it's President Obama.
My only thought was why Maine when the Gulf Coast is open for business? Mr. President, you missed the opportunity of a lifetime for good publicity. The only reason I could come up with is you must have had non-refundable reservations.
TV has been flooded with advertisements for the Mississippi, Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. They're open for business. Did you not see them? Beautiful white beaches and rolling surf to enjoy and sun, do we have sun, There's always an abundance of delicious seafood, which, of course, they may have to import, but I'm sure there's still plenty of seafood around.
As far as any oil floating around in the water, yeah, there's some balls of oil here and there, but it's not so many that you can't swim around them. Your family could make it like a game of dodge ball and just avoid them. I'm sure the locals probably even have a couple of other great ideas for fun in the water, which they'd be happy to share with you. Bet they don't have anything like that in Maine. They probably just have plain ole water.
I hope the Obamas enjoy their vacation, although I think our local Gulf Coast people are a little disappointed, although they're probably getting used to the feeling by now. But on the other hand, if they have a little money put back and since most depend heavily on the tourist trade which isn't booming as much this year, maybe they can book a little vacation of their own. I hear Maine's nice this time of year.

Post a CommentInteresting. Thanks for sharing.
So sad, perhaps Obama could make a little trip down there, but it wouldn't be much of a vaca with displaced shrimpers and charter captains trying to hunt him down!
We've seriously considered taking a vacation down on the gulf, but not till it cools off. Oklahoma heat is unbearable; I'd hate to go anywhere even hotter. We can sit under the AC here or go somewhere and pay big bucks to sit under theirs. I should think Africa would be even hotter.
There probably are some great deals down there. Might look into it myself. Use my spending power ( what little of it I have) in a place that truly needs it.
too funny
Thanks, Pattie!!
It's a case of "do as I say, not as I do."
It does seem like there has been a lot of vacationing . . . but maybe that's just because I don't know many people who are able to take one.
