Obesity Now the Cause of Breast Development in Girls 7 & 8!

Theresa L.
When my nephew was in elementary school, there was this little girl. The two had attended the same school since Kindergarten, but by the third grade, this little girl looked like she belonged in the seventh grade.

At eight years old, this little girl was already developing. She was taller than five feet four inches and was already having to wear a bra.

I bring this up because of an intriguing article I read in nydailynews.com titles "Girls are hitting puberty younger and obesity may be the cause, says study."

This is an intriguing article, and if you get the chance you should read it, especially if you have daughters or grand daughters. However, it made me wonder if obesity is truly the cause or if it is just a genetic trait.

I wonder this, because of this little girl I mentioned earlier. Her father is extremely tall, well over six feet. If I think about it, I am not surprised she is the tallest one in her class because that was how it was for her father.

At the same time, her mother developed early as well, so again that does not surprise me that this little girl would as well.

However, no where in this article did it say they were looking at the family history. Genetics, in my opinion, has a lot to do with physical growth. If your family is known for having tall traits, then it is common to assume that you will be tall as well.

Instead, they are looking at these 7 & 8 year old little girls, and assuming it is obesity. That may or may not be the case, but there are different factors to consider.

For example, a friend of mine was pregnant, and she had a little girl. The doctors told my friend, do not be surprised if she starts bleeding. I did not believe it was possible, but it is true. When the mother hormone's begin to drop and leave the infant girls body, it can cause her to start having vaginal bleeding. Because you never hear this happening, it makes me wonder if this could be apart of early puberty.

In all reality, if obesity was the cause of females developing breast then over half the country would be stuffing their faces. If you sincerely think about it, I personally know tiny girls who are quite developed and larger girls that are not quite develop. So why then, would obesity be the cause of a female developing breast. To me, it sounds more like a case of genetics and a lot like the case of someone wanted to blame obesity for a child developing young.

If you look at the facts, the youngest girl in history to get pregnant was five years old. Her name was Lina Medina and, believe me, she was a tiny, little girl.

    Good coverage.

As far as I been able to find, they are not giving a reason other than examining 7 and 8 year old girls.

I heard this mentioned on the news last night, but didn't get to hear the reason they were giving. I wonder about their reasoning on it being caused by obesity too.

I tend to think it's genetics also, but have heard that the hormones they feed to animals can contribute. They keep things like this confused so they can further an agenda when the time is right for it. Good job Theresa :)

Thank you! It is disturbing to think of little girls maturing so young.

I like how you took this news story and made it even more interesting with your own research and additional facts.

Wow, that is likely to be a problem for them at that age. I thought I was early at 9 and I wasn't obese or even mildly fat at the time. I just developed early. It was awful!

They do. I once heard if you want bigger boobs, to increase your weight. The more weight you gain, it goes to certain parts of your body (like your breast and butt). This... Were talking about kids, and I can't see weight being a cause for someone to develop breast. Genetics, I can, and it is very scary to hear how are kids are growing faster.
