But there is a new kid on the block. Obopay is much like paypal. They link your account to your cell phone. Then you can send and receive money through your phone, anytime, anywhere. Once you sign up, they send a text message to your cell phone for verification purposes. After you verify your phone number (takes only seconds) they will mail you a prepaid MasterCard within two weeks so that you can access your funds. There is no charge to sign up. In fact, when you sign up, they will credit your account with $10!! And, now through December, the will credit your account $5 for every referral that signs up under you. The only fees are for atm use or if you send money, much like paypal. The fees are relatively low. It is only ten cents to send money, whether it is $5 or $500, it is still only ten cents. Unlike paypal, who charges a percent for receiving money and additional fees.
I have received my card. It is easy to use and works just like any other debit card you may own. You have an online account where you can view your balance at anytime. There is no charge for POS (point of sale) transactions or to receive money. That's right, it costs nothing to receive money through Obopay. You can also add funds to your card via your bank account for free. However, if the transaction fails, they do charge a $6.00 fee.
Why Obopay? Let's say your child goes off to college or on a road trip. An unexpected expense comes up and they need to borrow money quick. If you have it transferred through Obopay, the money is available, instantly. Money transfers or wires can take hours or even days. But with Oboapy, as soon as the money is sent to with your cell phone, it is available for use then and there. The person receiving, or if it is you receiving funds, just use the Obopay MasterCard to access the funds. Remember, money can be sent and received anytime, anywhere. And the fee to send money? Only ten cents, regardless of the amount being sent. There is no fee to receive money. Money wires generally start at $12 and go up depending on the amount. Not with Obopay.
If you would like to give Obopay a try, just click here to Sign up and get $10.
