I once read a quote which inferred that if you can't get someone off your mind then they are supposed to be there.
It sounds nice enough but if you can't get someone off your mind then you are allowing that person to have a great deal of power over you, and are they really worth it?
I discovered long ago that if I was consumed by anyone or anything then the emotion I was expending wasn't conducive to me and the person it was directed at wasn't affected at all, so who was I really punishing?
Obsessions may cause the target to feel unnerved and uncomfortable but they ultimately poison the one feeling them.

I couldn't agree more. We punish ourselves by obsessing about anyone or anything too much!
Agreed. Obsessing about someone you shouldn't is a dangerous thing.
