Obsessive Gaming and Relationships

Ladies, is your boy toy a gamer? Do you find yourself competing for your hubby's time with Xbox 360, Play Station 3 or Nintendo Wii? Are you frustrated because he spends more time in front of the television than with you? We'll that's me. I'm frustrated. Xbox 360 is like a member of the family and I've learned some lessons along the way. Here's my list of Do's and Don'ts when your boyfriend is a Gamer.

Do

If your hubby or significant other loves to play video games, he's probably visual. When you're home alone and he's playing Gears of Wars for like the billionth time, change into something seductive, something he hasn't seen before. Make sure it accentuates the part of your body that he loves to grab or gawk at. When you're in makeup and costume, spray your favorite perfume and slowly walk by him Ask him how much longer is he gonna play that thing. Then, when you have his attention, the rest is up to you. Just make sure you don't have a headache.

Don't

When you haven't seen him in days and all he wants to do is play Play Station 3, don't stand in front of television while he's playing and demand attention. This only works about half of the time. The other half, he might scream back at you to GET OUT THE WAY. This might disappoint you, so tread lightly.

Do

Sometimes playing for extended hours brings out his animal instincts or possibly hunger pains. Order his favorite fast food or if you're bold enough, cook his favorite meal. He'll follow his nose and take a break to eat with you. Fortunately, Microsoft made it so that you have to use both hands to play. So, when he's hungry, he'll likely pause the game and spend some time with you.

Don't

If you're getting frustrated that he's playing his system more than sleeping, don't disconnect or hide the components cables. Nothing good can come from this.

Do

If you're going to try to show interests in what he's playing and why he likes the game, be prepared to listen. If you ask him why he like the game and his response is one word or a short sentence like "I like the game because I can kill stuff," don't over analyze this. It might be that the purpose of the game is to kill, kill, and kill. In which case, he more than likely gave you an honest response.

Don't

Don't over analyze. We have a tendency to think that his time with Nintendo Wii is unimportant, when in reality it's his away of unwinding. Think of it like this: at least he's home and safe from his single friends or other temptations like alcohol and girls.

Do

You can't expect him to buy you lingerie if you are not willing to go into his domain. Visit EB Games, maybe even pick out a game or two for yourself. If you start playing something you like, maybe you and he can share in his delight. All in all having a boyfriend as a Gamer is not as bad as it seems. I rather have him be loud and obscene at home than in public.
