Obsolescense

Something Old is Just Something Old!

Diane Zoller-Ciatto

As we grew up

New things came about

Our wish lists grew

And we'd yell; "Far Out!"

Our 8-tracks got replaced

Vinyl wouldn't play

Our Nehi was succeeded by

A drink called Chardonnay!

If we lost our precious skate key

We could always make a scooter

With a milk box and a piece of wood

Never heard of a computer!

So what's in store

What lies ahead

Will my iPod still play

My favorite Grateful Dead?

Will cell phones have

A million and one Apps

Or become passe'

Like paper road maps?

I often wonder about the same thing which is why we won't be buying an iPad or iPod soon.

Way too many things will become obsolescent before I even buy them!

I find myself thinking the same things sometimes...

I find myself lost with all the new stuff coming out , plus the fact it will soon be replaced by something else next week.

You touched upon many things with which I am familiar;) The portable cell/computer devices will be around for the foreseeable future, with far higher speeds and capabilities to follow. I would trade all these devices for the chance to spend a few days back in the quiet mountains with my grandmother though...an easy "sacrifice".
