O'Casey's Bed & Breakfast was owned and operated by one family for 16 years. However a mere six weeks ago from today, the current innkeeper took the reins and has begun making O'Casey's her own. Innkeeper Madonna promises all the charm and hospitality O'Casey's was known for with much of the kitsch taken away. Combine clean lines and fresh linens with down home service and affordable prices, and the new owners of O'Casey's could have something on their hands. Clean linens and a family friendly setting is one thing but what about the beds? Let's head inside O'Casey's Bed & Breakfast and let's see if this is somewhere that you should sleep here now.
Innkeeper Madonna spoke with us at great length as she went over all the details, big and small that she saw needed change for her reckoning of O'Casey's. The Australian spoke with confidence and insight as to how she could make this transition come off as smoothly as anything. whether or not she hits her marks remains to be seen.
The night we stayed in O'Casey's Bed & Breakfast we were in the rear carriage house suite. The suite we were in had a trundle bed, king sized bed for sleeping, porch out front for sitting and relaxing and a kitchenette with full four-burner gas stove, microwave, full fridge, and a sink as well as utensils, cups, and other dishware.
Our opinion of O'Casey's however needs to be somewhat restrained for exactly the reason of our timing. Innkeeper Madonna kept pointing out all these minute details which we may or may not have noticed. Taken on the whole though these small things all added up to a far different picture of the O'Casey's that we saw. The inn we slept in felt like a blank palate even as the dutiful workers for the innkeeper were tearing things down and building anew.
After a full nights rest in O'Casey's carriage house and a warm and tasty breakfast, it's time for me to be on my way. O'Casey's Bed & Breakfast has all the potential to wow their guests with subtle changes adding up to a major difference. Innkeeper Madonna keeps her 7-room inn run smoothly and is full of active vision and promise. O'Casey's has been in San Antonio for so many years; it would be tough to get rid of all the personality that made the bed and breakfast what it is. Still, in six months this bed and breakfast is already looking to be something a whole lot different from what it is now. what that different will be, we'll just have to wait and see.
