Oceanic Boundlessness

Richard Contreras

Laying awake upon drifting daydreams,
Holding closely to thy pieces of gold
Wast'd along some slow, shallow, low streams;
With those lonely little tides to be sold

Whisper gently as thou send rains to fall;
Give me only dregless amounts of sand
And grasp this voice dearly after you call,
Chasing shorelines for years, finding no land

Thine sun has fell within shifting blue seas
Alone; making islands for thy sewn heart
Strand'd near the quiet flow of a breeze,
Whilst this lost love of yours now does depart:

O, do not fret, for night shall bring us moons
To rest; sleeping atop silver wash'd dunes
