Claricode, a medical software company released a Press Release on PRWeb today stating its intention to use HealthVault, Microsoft Corp.'s newly launched consumer health platform to create a medication-reminder system called DoseSpot. DoseSpot will run in the background of a Windows-based PC similar to a calendar reminder and will be useful to parents, office workers, students, and caregivers. Messages will vary, but may pop up with the statement, "Give Grandpa his sleep medicine", or "Have you taken your blood pressure medicine today?"

According to the press release, "studies show that health care costs and hospitalizations drop dramatically when people follow their medication instructions."
The press release states that the primary reason patients do not follow their medication instruction is that they do not remember to take the medication. Andrew Needleman, CEO of Claricode, states it will be critical that each PC used be kept current as to the medication requirements. Peter Neupert, Corporate Vice President for the Health Solutions Group at Microsoft, states, "DoseSpot will enhance the HealthVault platform and help us deliver on the promise of connecting and improving health care."

DoseSpot will launch in the first quarter of 2008. It will be a Windows-based application.

Claricode states that they provide "custom software development to health care providers and medical software companies."

In a related PRWeb Press Release, "Physicians Wellness Network today announced that it has released a consumer selected lab testing service built on HealthVault, Microsoft Corp.'s newly launched consumer health platform." According to Peter Neupert, corporate vice president for the Health Solutions Group at Microsoft, "Consumer-selected lab testing with direct access to test results is exactly the type of value-added service that delivers on the promise of Health 2.0. In the past, acquiring your cholesterol numbers took weeks; now, with Microsoft HealthVault and Physicians Wellness Network, consumers can have this information in days. PWN is a trusted national network of physicians dedicated to connecting consumers with their health data in a privacy- and security-enhanced manner."

Health Vault's website states:
