There are many heritage-related October events in DFW. Head to Plano Saturday, Oct. 2 for the 6th Annual Plano International Festival. From 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Haggard Park in downtown Plano, you can enjoy a parade of nations, ethnic food, music and dance and more. Southlake celebrates Oktoberfest Oct. 1-3 at the Southlake Town Square. Also occurring on Oct.1-3 is the Lebanese Food Festival at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church in Lewisville. Enjoy authentic Lebanese food and gifts, a raffle and more.
Friday, Oct. 8 through Thursday, Oct. 14
Get out and enjoy some barbecue before it gets too cold outside. October events in DFW include the 27th International Bar-B-Que Cookoff Oct. 9 and 10 at Traders Village in Grand Prairie. There is no admission fee, but you will need to pay $3 to park. Depot Day in Gainesville takes place on the second Saturday in October, which happens to be Oct. 9 this year. Enjoy live entertainment, a classic car show, food and craft vendors and more. Take the whole family to After Dark in the Park at River Legacy Living Science Center in Arlington for storytelling, a pumpkin patch, hayrides, games and more.
Friday, October 15 through Thursday, October 21
As the month goes on, October events in DFW continue. Downtown Ennis hosts the 9th Annual Autumn Days October 16 from 10 am - 5 pm. Enjoy music, crafts, food and more with the whole family. October 15 and 16 is the Historic Mansfield Music Festival on the corners of Main and Broad Street. Come for a variety of live entertainment, a car show and a chili cook-off.
Friday, October 22 through Sunday, October 31
There is more culture, heritage and pure entertainment in the final week of October events in DFW. Oct. 22 through 24, it's the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Listen to some live music and cowboy poetry, take in some rodeo events and eat some hearty food. On Oct. 23, Rockwall hosts Rockin' on the Docks at The Harbor located on Lake Ray Hubbard. Along with locally and nationally recognized bands, enjoy food, beverages and a special Kid Zone. On Oct. 23 and 24, take a trip around the world at the Addison WorldFest at Village on the Parkway. Immerse yourself in the cultures of countries from around the globe. End the month with your eyes on the skies. The Fort Worth Alliance Air Show on Oct. 30 and 31 features the US Navy Blue Angels, the US Air Force F-22 Raptor and the US Army Golden Knights from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fort Worth Alliance Airport.
Whether you take in one of these October events in DFW or try to get to all of them, make sure you do go out and enjoy fall while it is here.
