National Seafood Month Specials
Love your Lobster? To celebrate National Seafood month, Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen offers Lotsa Lobster, featuring six different delicious 1lb. live Maine lobster entrées beginning at 5 p.m. Oct. 7. The entrées include: Laughing Lobster, steamed and finished with fresh ginger butter, served with stir fry canton noodles tossed with fresh mushrooms, peppers and Napa cabbage ($19.95); Stuffed Lobster, oven baked with crawfish stuffing served with fresh green beans and red potatoes ($19.95); Angry Lobster, steamed with a spicy chili sauce and served with zucchini ribbons ($19.95); Cheesy Lobster, oven-baked and topped with melted Parmesan cheese and served with fresh green beans and red potatoes ($19.95); N'Awlins Lobster, grilled and finished with creole spice and Orleans BBQ butter, served with fresh green beans and red potatoes ($19.95); and Lobster in a Pot, lobster steamed in a personal pot with jumbo shrimp, corn, red potatoes, onions and Andouille sausage in a lobster broth ($22.95). All Lotsa Lobster entrées are served with tasty garlic bread and a dinner salad or Caesar salad can be added for an additional $2.95. October Prix Fixe Menu
Celebrate the beginning of fall and go easy on the wallet with Birch River Grill's $20 prix fixe menu, offered daily after 11 a.m. in addition to the restaurant's regular menu in October.

Begin with an appetizer, choosing from the BRG Salad, baby greens, shredded Michigan carrots, beefsteak tomato wedges and seedless cucumber slices; the Granny Apple Onion Soup, paprika Parmesan croutons, Wisconsin Swiss and provolone cheese; or the Soup of the Day.

Entrée selections include a choice of either: Nueske Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin Chop, kiln dried sour cherry sauce, smashed Yukon gold potatoes and steamed green beans; Seared Herb Rubbed Tilapia, wild and saffron rice pilaf, butter glazed broccolini and lemon vinaigrette; or Basil Pesto Cream Linguine, sundried tomatoes, baby spinach and shaved Grana Padano Parmesan.

Finish off with Berry Sorbet, served with fresh berries, for dessert.

Dining Deals
The whole month of October, on Mondays - Fridays, Bud Light drafts are only $1.99 all day and appetizers are only $1.99, from 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. The appetizers include Buffalo Hot Wings, carrots, celery sticks and Wisconsin blue cheese dipping sauce; Mozzarella Cheese Sticks served with a chunky marinara; Cheese Quesadillas, Wisconsin Monterey and cheddar cheese, cilantro cream and pico de gallo; Beer Battered Onion Rings served with a ranch dipping sauce; Popcorn Shrimp with a spicy Asian dipping sauce; Potato Skins, four skins filled with melted Wisconsin cheddar, crisp pepper bacon, sour cream and green onions; and Boursin Stuffed Mushrooms along with a horseradish sipping sauce.

Birch River Grill celebrates the Sweetest Day on Saturday, Oct. 17, with a sweet table. The sweet table will be a Chef's selection of desserts with coffee and tea offered with the purchase of an entrée on this day.

Halloween Drink Specials
Birch River Grill finishes off October right with spooky drink specials offered only on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31. New October Specials
Try Dine's new and exciting menu selections, available throughout the month of October. Start out by sharing the Mediterranean Sampler for Two, tabbouleh, hummus, marinated Greek olives, feta cheese and a tomato basil salad accompanied by herbed flat bread ($12).

Special entrées include a Southwestern Chopped Salad with crisp romaine lettuce, corn, black beans, jicama, cilantro, basil, crispy tortilla strips, Monterey Jack cheese, chicken, diced tomatoes, green onions and fresh avocados ($10); Seafood Cioppino, a combination of seasonal seafood, clams, mussels, crab, scallop, prawns, onions and fennel served with an orange infused tomato stock with a hint of spice ($19); or try the Guinness Sheppard's Pie, beef sirloin in a savory Guinness and beef sauce with onions, sweet peas and topped with whipped potatoes ($17).

The October special dessert is an Apple Cobbler, warm apple cobbler finished with vanilla scented whip cream ($7).

Oktoberfest Menu
In honor of the German Festival, Oktoberfest, Dine has prepared a special menu available from October 5 - 10, and features Warsteiner ($4.50) as the beer of the month. For this German meal, start with a warm Bavarian Pretzel with a German mustard sauce ($3). The special entrée is a Roasted Chicken Hendl, a classic Bavarian-Austrian chicken dish of roasted chicken served with homemade sauerkraut and a potato pancake and finished with a sweet onion pan sauce ($18). The fest isn't complete without a piece of Black Forest Cake with sweet berries and chocolate Kirsch sauce for dessert ($7).

October Prix Fixe Menu
Glen Prairie's October prix fixe menu celebrates locally sourced food with a three-course meal offered after 5 p.m. daily for the entire month for $20.
The meal begins with the appetizer, Farmers Salad, baby greens, green onions, fresh tomatoes, cucumber, shaved winter vegetables and Champagne-cider vinaigrette. Enjoy one of two entrée options, either the Grilled Center Cut Pork Chop, roasted beet risotto, baby carrots and natural jus, or Miller Farms Herb Marinated Roasted Half Chicken, caramelized Brussels sprouts and Minnesota wild rice. For dessert, refresh with a Choice of Daily Sorbets.

New Fall Menu
Glen Prairie unveils a fall menu highlighting natural and locally grown seasonal fare. New items on the menu include appetizers, entrées and desserts, many also offered Glen Prairie's extensive gluten free menu. The menu now includes a Soup of the Day ($5); Organic Spinach and Artichoke Dip served with pita chips and peppato cheese ($8); and Trio of Dietzler Farms Sliders, including a bacon and cheddar slider, a caramelized onion and blue cheese slider and a roasted pepper and goat cheese slider ($9) for appetizers. New salads include the Glen Prairie Panzanella Salad, bacon fried sourdough, today's tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, crispy prosciutto, baby greens and balsamic glaze ($8) and an Heirloom Beet Salad with baby greens, goat cheese, balsamic truffle vinaigrette and toasted pine nuts ($7).

New entrées feature Pan Seared Sea Scallops, Graue Mill Polenta Cake, melted leeks and sautéed green beans and roasted red pepper coulis ($24); Iowa Farmed Espresso Braised Beef Short Rib, whipped sweet potatoes, caramelized Brussels sprouts and natural jus ($21); Baked Ziti, spaghetti squash, roasted tomatoes, peppato cheese, toasted pine nuts and garlic prosciutto toast ($16); Miller Farms Chicken Pot Pie, winter vegetables, natural chicken gravy and Parmesan sablé crust ($19); Grilled Pork Tenderloin, caramelized fig and port sauce, Minnesota Wild Rice and baby carrots ($21); Graue Mill Seared Polenta Cake, wild mushrooms, melted leeks, winter vegetables, and roasted red pepper coulis ($15); or Maple Leaf Farms Duck Leg Confit with white bean cassoulet, Nueske's Smoked Sausage and maple gastrique ($22).

Glen Prairie also has new dessert options which are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. New desserts include Vanilla Bean Crème Brule, crisp sugar crust and berries (regular $6/mini $2); and Heavenly Brownie Sundae, house made chocolate brownie, vanilla bean gelato, chocolate sauce and Cocoa Nibs (regular $6/mini $2).

Gluten Free Menu
Glen Prairie also serves a wide variety of gluten free options for those with dietary restrictions. Dishes on the gluten free menu are all very similar to what is offered on the regular menu offering starters like the Miller Farms Sage Grilled Chicken Wings, garlic and sweet Chile aioli with organic celery has been added to the gluten free menu ($7). Entrées on the gluten free menu include Miller Farms Herb Marinated Roasted Half Chicken, caramelized Brussels sprouts and whipped potatoes ($20); and Iowa Farmed Filet Mignon, herb whipped potatoes, green beans and natural jus ($32). These are a small sample of the gluten free menu, which is available upon request.

Crowne Plaza Holiday Promotions
With the holiday parties right around the corner the Crowne Plaza Glen Ellyn-Lombard, adjacent to Glen Prairie, is offering a 10 percent discount when it is booked before October 31, 2009. The Crowne Plaza is an incredibly beautiful event venue with two sizeable ballrooms. Celebrations can continue throughout the weekend with the special holiday event guest room rate of only $79.

Tour de Champagne
Chef Michael Lachowicz of Restaurant Michael is featured along side Chicago's most talented chefs at Tour de Champagne from 7 p.m.-10 p.m., on Oct. 23, at the Drake Hotel (140 E. Walton Place) where champagne from more than 20 prestigious champagne houses is served.
