Octomom Can't Pay Her Bills

Seems the economy is now affecting Octomom. The publicity-needing reality personality is behind on her mortgage payments and without an infusion of cash, will be unable to meet the $450,000 balloon payment on her house. Hello? Her balloon payment amount is at least twice the national average for the cost of a home. She is reluctantly considering letting the cameras back into her home so she can get some cash. How do I know this? Both US and People are running the stories about Nadya "Octomom" Suleman's hard times. Octomom is facing eviction because she can't pay and here come the tabloids to give her some ink and a way out. Must be nice.

Wouldn't it be great if all of us had easy access to publicity that would bring a potential cash flow to solve our problems? Think about it. This woman has no talent, but landed a TV show and is likely to get another to help her pay her bills. Always a class act, Ms. Suleman recently sold her bras, bikinis, and other personal wares at a garage sale at her home in an attempt to convert her personal effects into collectibles that folks will buy to immortalize her 15 minutes of fame. She signed a Lakers jersey and some fool bought it for $125! Perhaps I should sign an old t-shirt and see if I can get that kind of cash. The publicity-shy (LOL) Suleman humbly offered to give attendees at her posh yard sale pictures of Octomom with her octuplets - for $100 per photo. Is it just me or did garage sale prices just escalate? The last garage sale I went to was a major coup for me because I bargained with the seller and got a nice lamp for a song. What do the lucky folks who paid $100 get? A photo of a woman with too many kids living well above her means trying to generate publicity so someone will bail her out. And sadly, in this reality TV age, someone will bail out Octomom and even sadder, people will watch the reality TV show.

I can understand that her yard sale wasn't about bargains. After all, Octomom has $10,000 of monthly expenses to finance. What irritates me the most about this is the press she is getting. What about the real working class folks who are losing their homes through no fault of their own? Where is their relief? I doubt any magazine is going to come knocking on their door to do a story, which will generate publicity, and offers of cash, to get them out of their horrible nightmare.

So, are we supposed to care that this woman, who unwisely had fertility treatments and added eight children to the six she already had, is now having trouble maintaining her lifestyle? I think it is appalling. Rather than bringing cameras back into Octomom's house, why not someone who can teach her about budgets and living within one's means? I'd suggest therapy, but the time for that has likely come and gone. At least Octomom still has her principles; she turned down an offer of $500,000 for a one-hour porn shoot.
