Octuplets' Mom and Similarities to Angelina Jolie

Nadya Suleman sat down with NBC to defend her choice to have multiple children. At first glance, Nadya looks strikingly like the actress Angelina Jolie, who is also know for (and sometimes criticized for as well) her multiple children. However there is something slightly off about Nadya's appearance because it is obviously the result of plastic surgery. Her nose looks like it has been carefully sculpted and her lips have clearly been pumped full of collagen. In fact, it looks like Nadya has worked hard (and payed a lot) to achieve her physical similarities to Jolie.

During the interview, Nadya responds to the criticism that she was irresponsible and selfish for having so many children. Nadya retorts that she is not selfish because she loves her children and is willing to work hard for her family. Unlike Angelina Jolie, Nadya does not have a partner or much money. She admits that she is not sure how she will get the resources to care for all fourteen of her children, but says that she plans to finish her schooling first. She told interviewer Ann Curry that friends and family have offered to help her in the meantime.

Nadya Suleman explains her decision to have the octuplets as a result of her own dysfunctional childhood. She says that she always wanted to have a big family and be a mom. She says that her children are not deprived because she gives them lots of love. She tells Ann Curry that she holds each of the octuplets at least forty-five minutes every day.

Suleman says that she is the victim of a particular kind of discrimination. She tells Curry that she believes people are only criticizing her because she is a single woman. She insists that if a couple were to do the same thing, there would not be such a huge public outcry. The criticism towards actress Angelina Jolie has sometimes been similar. While the actress lives with actor Brad Pitt, she and Pitt are not married. Critics of the couple have said that the couple's many adopted and biological children deserve to have married and committed parents.

During the discussion, Nadya explains that she only meant to have seven children, not fourteen. Seven children would be much more acceptable and less out of the ordinary for most American families. Angelina Jolie has six children: three adopted and three biological. However, because some of the embryos were twins, Nadya ended up with more children than she had planned. She does not seem upset that her pregnancy turned out the way it did and insists that she loves children and that she is now living her lifelong dream.
