Salvation Mountain
P.O. Box 298,
Niland, California 92257
Every one has a dream, but very few of us get to do anything about it. Leonard Knight spent 14 years building his, but he made it, literally. Salvation Mountain is about as high as a 3 story building and you can climb all the way to the top. It is painted with messages of love, peace and salvation and bright flowers. It has also been declared a folk art site worthy of preservation by the Folk Art Society of America.

Forestiere Underground Gardens is another man's dream come true. Baldassare Forestiere immigrated to America from Sicily in 1901. It is more than a garden, it is a world onto itself. Forestiere built his home here and surrounded it with the garden complete with patios, elaborate grottos and courts. It took him 40 years of working when ever he had a spare moment, but he made his own 10 acre paradise complete with oranges, lemons, kumquat, loquat, jujube, strawberry, quince, and dates and even more live growing plants and trees.
Museum of Death
6031 Hollywood Blvd.
Hollywood, California 90028
(323) 466-8011
It sounds a bit macabre, but it is also very historic. The museum features the worlds biggest collection of Serial Murderer Artwork, Photos of the Charles Manson Crime Scenes, the Guillotined Severed Head of the Blue Beard of Paris, Henri Landru, Original Crime Scene and Morgue Photos from the Grisly BLACK DAHLIA MURDERS as well as a collection of Body Bags and Coffins , replicas of Full Size Execution Devices, Mortician and Autopsy Instruments and Pet Death Taxidermy. If you think you can take it without passing out, and this happens regularly, take some time to see the videos of autopsies and other real life death subjects. Not recommend for kids or the squeamish.
