Ever since I was little and I saw the Twilight Zone Movie, one part always stuck out to me. No, it wasn't John Lithgow and his monster on the Airplane wing, it was the fact that that Anthony kid made his family eat peanut butter on their hamburgers! It sounded kind of, well, GOOD to me. I know that is odd, but I have always loved peanut butter.
When I was pregnant, I thought about trying the peanut butter burger thing, but couldn't bring myself to do it. Finally during a barbecue with some friends I threw caution to the wind and spread a big glob of peanut butter on a plain hamburger patty. I smashed it together in between two buns and took a big bite. It was really, really good. Seriously, don't get TOO grossed out. I let my husband try and he thought it was alright. Not his cup of tea really, but it wasn't horrible. I have had my peanut butter burgers on a few occasions and always get weird looks, but I still enjoy them. I never put cheese or anything on them, just plain meat and peanut butter.
Another interesting combination of food that I enjoy is Stove top stuffing, mixed with chicken, mixed with mayonnaise mixed with cranberry sauce. It makes an interestingly sweet combination. It almost looks like a mooshy salad of some sort. Often times I have seen people put all of these ingredients together in a sandwich and love it, but get grossed out when I say that I mix them together and eat it as it is. It really is the same thing just with no bread.
One of my most favorite combinations that I am sure other enjoy as well, is French fries or potato logs dipped in chocolate or vanilla ice cream or milkshakes. The combination of sweet vs. salty together really makes it a great comfort food. My husband gets grossed out by this one, yet he enjoys eating chili on his eggs! Gross! I have found that lots of people (especially those from Texas where he is from)enjoy chili on their eggs. I can't eat chili on eggs. I can eat hot sauce and egg whites, but not chili on eggs. However, since so many people like it, it must fall into the category of gross looking but tasty.
Peanut butter and bacon sandwiches. I have yet to try this, but my friends tell me these are great. Toast two slices of white bread, slather with peanut butter and place three slices of bacon and two slices of tomato in between them. It actually sounds really good. I'm weird, I know.
A great breakfast is two small microwavable buttermilk pancakes sandwiching a slice of cheese, two sausage patties and maple syrup. I have also heard of people cooking square hash browns and then mashing them up with diced bacon and scrambled eggs. Pour ketchup or hot sauce on top and you have an interesting meal!
Some yummy yet odd snacks are popcorn mixed with M&Ms and Chocolate gummy bears, trisquits dipped in chocolate syrup, bread dipped in chocolate, ruffles salty potato chips dipped in honey., French fries dipped in mayonnaise mixed with hot sauce, Doritos dipped in chocolate sauce, pickles dipped in nacho cheese sauce, and skittles and chocolate milk.
In conclusion, you can't judge a book by it's cover. Some of these foods are really, really good. They look gross, but don't let that fool you. One person's nasty food is another person's gourmet meal! Be unique, try something new!

Post a CommentThose aren't as weird as I thought they would be, lol. Try macaroni and cheese mixed with ranch dressing, hot sauce, and tortilla chips. Or doritos and mustard in between two slices of bread. Delicious :)
Bagels with maple syrup and sprinkles, sometimes with a piece of turkey too.
Gosh, I was retarded when i was little!
Walkers Salt and vinegar crisps with Cadbury's dairymilk chocolate (1 cube of chocolate followed by a small handful of crisps, but must be chewed together). Peanut butter and melted cheddar on toast is amazing (as they're both savoury then I suppose it's not such a strange combination).
Once I ate gherkins (pickle) with ice-cream. It was actually pretty good! I think gherkin should officially be an ice-cream topping.
What about maple syrup and tomato sauce omlets!?
I love fries dipped in chocolate milkshakes! The pancakes w/cheese, sausage, and maple syrup reminds me of a McGriddle, lol
