"Odd Motels"
This motel room reminds me
In the hours, dark & late
Of the 1970's
Paisley curtains, panel walls.
It seems to me as though
This room was never touched
left alone as a place
That time forgot to alter.
The bed is hard and springy
It's a pain, surely a sham.
I think I saw a bug
What color is that carpet?!
Motels are such odd places
Showing off different eras.
How do they get stuck like that?
Anyone else notice?

Post a CommentYes, old motels give me a definite sense of being locked in the past, captured so well by your poem.
