A curse given to him at birth, and as cliche' as the phrase has become in pop culture today since the the movie the Sixth Sense wowed audiences around the world, Odd Thomas See's dead people. He can also see dark figures that gather for upcoming disasters, it is this ability that allows him to become a hero. Even though he has no real desire to be one. Odd Thomas is brilliant in his simplicity, His unflappable, bright outlook on such a bleakand dreary world, empowers the reader, to belive in the power of Good the noibilty of man and the courage of loving friendhsips.

Dean Koontz's ability to bring a character to life who is so strong, yet so helpless, coupled with his wry sense of humor have given the book world a truly lovable character in Odd Thomas. Dean R. Rarely do sequel's of any kind live up to the first in the series. With the three Odd Thomas novel's, Dean Koontz has cultivated a character whose ability to draw you in, is so powerful that you almost ache for him to succeed. You truly get caught up in the life of Odd Thomas. When the last page is read you are left feeling both happy and saddened. You start to wonder what a character that only exists on paper is "up to", how he is doing? What is he doing? When a character in a book engrosses you both mind and spirit and your heart pours out for the pain that he is feeling, well that is what defines a truly great character and Dean Koontz has given you that very thing With Odd Thomas.

You hope beyond hope that Odd Thomas will win the day. So few authors in modern day fiction have the ability to make you need their character's. Dean Koontz has been doing that very thing for more than 30 years. He is a masterful artist with quick prose and a lightning fast wit. Unfortunately, for now Odd Thomas can only exist on paper, and in the beautiful, brilliant minds of authors Like Dean Koontz.

    Excellent review! I've read all 4 of the Odd Thomas books, because I just care about Odd and want him to have the best in life. By the way, I didn't realize you had already written this review of Odd Thomas before I posted a review of Odd Thomas. If I had I wouldn't have posted mine, because yours is so good.

    Just finished reading the 3rd one and i can honestly say that Odd Thomas is a truly beautiful character and somehow you miss him when he isn t there. I hope there are plenty more books in this series.

    I loved the first two books, but have not read the third yet. I too was moved by the character. Though he is simple, there is still somehow complexity there. Good review.
