Odds to Win 2011 College Football BCS National Championship

Alabama and Ohio State Early Favorites for Next Season BCS Title

Todd Jacobs
The Alabama Crimson Tide, the defending BCS and SEC Champion, will be returning some key players on offense including last season's Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, and that is enough to install them as an early 7-2 favorite to repeat. The Ohio State Buckeyes are returning with a confident Terrelle Pryor and many players with one more season under their belt also and are second choice at 7-1.

Find a solid 30-1 through 50-1 team to ride to BCS Championship.
The challenge now is to find two or three teams now that may be under valued and can make a championship run. Boise State and TCU are both nice stories from last year, but their odds are too low to make a decent futures bet. The teams to look for are in the 30-1 to 50-1 price range and there are a few teams in that range that can make a huge splash in the upcoming run for a BCS Championship.

Start with the SEC's Arkansas Razorbacks at 30-1.
If SEC contenders, the Arkansas Razorbacks, can dispose of Alabama in their SEC game this year, Arkansas will be the darling of the media and the public alike. Everyone loves an underdog, just ask Butler. Arkansas' next challenge will be to get by a depleted SEC foe, the Florida Gators.

Judging by two time BCS National Champion, Urban Meyer's attitude in spring practice, Florida may be on their way to a long SEC season. Arkansas' BCS title game will then be against a Big 10, PAC 10 or Big 12 school. Don't believe for a moment that an undefeated Boise State, Utah or BYU will have a chance to play for a BCS Championship. First choice, Arkansas at 30-1 to win BCS National Championship.

Pittsburgh Panthers at 30-1 could be a solid dark horse as the second choice.
Dave Wannestedt has a strong sophomore running back Dion Lewis, and now he doesn't have Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly to deal with in the Big East. Pittsburgh should have a relatively strong chance to have no losses heading into the Big East title game, they will be more run oriented this season and that will play well against Big East competition. Make a small play on Pittsburgh at 30-1 to win the BCS Championship.

Georgia Bulldogs at 30-1 are from the SEC and makes them a legitimate contender for a BCS Title.
Georgia was a pre season favorite heading into the 2009 NCAA college football season and disappointed their backers with a lack luster start to their season. Mark Richt will play up the underdog role with his team, and Georgia will revel in their under valued status. Look for Georgia to quickly climb in the polls, especially if they defeat one of the big two (Florida or Alabama) in the SEC. Make a small play on Georgia at 30-1 to win the BCS Championship.

Go off the board and make a play on the USC Trojans at 20-1.
USC at 20-1 before a BCS title run hasn't happened in a long time and with new coach Lane Kiffin, it will be interesting to see how USC moves up the BCS poll after a few wins to start the season. Kiffin will have many of Pete Carroll's recruits in the fold to start his first season and talent cannot be discounted, especially in the NCAA. USC may only suffer two losses and that may be enough to be in contention for the BCS Championship game. Make a small play on USC at 20-1 to win the BCS Championship.
