Tiger Woods: 4-1
Tiger Woods may not have a chance to win the FedEx Cup but in Las Vegas they know the square bettors will see Tiger Woods and plunk down some cash. 4-1 odds on a struggling golfer to win the championship is like taking candy from a baby. He has not shot but plenty of people will bet on him.
Phil Mickelson: 10-1
Phil has looked better in the beginning of the PGA season but can he make a solid run to be in position once the FedEx Playoffs begin? 10-1 is a decent price on the big lefty but we will have to pas on a futures bet on Mickelson this year.
Dustin Johnson: 12-1
Jim Gray may not like Dustin Johnson's caddy but the again Gray doesn't like anyone. Dustin Johnson at 12-1 is an intriguing play. He is well rounded and plays the courses in the FedEx Playoffs well. Make a small cover bet on Dustin Johnson to win the FedEx Cup.
Steve Stricker: 20-1
Steve Stricker is another interesting play at 20-1 but we will have to pass on him to win the FedEx Cup this year. Stricker will win a few tournaments this year but he will fall a little short for the FedEx Cup.
Jim Furyk: 20-1
Jim Furyk thought he lost his bid for the FedEx Cup when he overslept last season in the first round of the playoffs. This season he is still one of five golfers that will make a solid run at the FedEx Cup. Make a small play on Furyk to win the FedEx Cup.
Luke Donald: 25-1
Luke Donald has never finished better than 22nd in the PGA money and taking a chance on him at 25-1 may be a stretch.
Rickie Fowler: 25-1
Rickie Fowler has the potential to have a breakout year but he has never won a tournament and he his best money finish for the year is 19th in his first full year.
Graeme McDowell: 25-1
Graeme McDowell is another golfer that is fun to watch but still not capable of winning the FedEx Cup at this time of his career. Consider betting on him in some of the tournaments that reward accurate and precise shot makers.
Paul Casey: 25-1
Paul Casey's best season was 2009 and that was a 19th place finish on the money list. Once the playoffs begin the money list doesn't affect the final result but Casey does not have much of a chance.
Anthony Kim: 25-1
Anthony Kim is the first live underdog at 25-1. Kim has the game for the final four events and he has the consistency to make it into the final rounds of the playoffs. Make a play on Anthony Kim at 25-1 to win the FedEx Cup.
Matt Kuchar: 25-1
Matt Kuchar is another live dog at 25-1. He will make it to the final round of the FedEx Cup without question and then he will have to fight off the top of the heap to take home the trophy.
Ian Poulter: 30-1
Ian Poulter is big hitter off the tee and an accurate shooter from down range of the pin. Two qualities that make him a favorite in many majors. Poulter will qualify for the FedEx Cup and he will be worth a small play to win it.
Adam Scott 30-1
Every year everyone including myself claims it will be the year Adam Scott breaks out and has a big season. $2.4 million on the money list isn't a bad year but he can do much better. Expect him to fall short one more year on the tour.
Geoff Oglivy: 30-1
Geoff Oglivy will make the FedEx Cup Playoffs and he will make it down to the last couple of weeks. Don't expect much from him beyond making the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Ernie Els: 40-1
Ernie Els finished first on the money list last year but fell short in the FedEx Playoffs. Els can make a run this season but don't bet on it.
Nick Watney: 40-1
Nick Watney will make the FedEx Cup Playoffs but he will fall short of taking the championship.
Hunter Mahan: 40-1
The best golfer at long odds is Hunter Mahan. He is already off to a good start in 2011 by taking a second at the Pebble AT&T Open and a sixth at the Farmers Insurance Open. Mahan is one of the better scramblers on the PGA Tour and he is deadly accurate when hitting the green in regulation. Hunter Mahan is the best bet to win the FedEx Cup.
Justin Rose: 50-1
Justin Rose could be another good bet to win the FedEx Cup at 50-1 but we will wait one more year before making a commitment on him this year. Consider making plays on him later in the year for individual tournaments.
Sean O'Hair: 50-1
Sean O'Hair is not a big banger off the tee but he is one of the better scramblers after he gets off course. O'Hair's mastery at saving par has made him a good betting opportunity in tournaments but he is a year away from considering for the FedEx Cup.
Notable Long Shots
Zach Johnson: 60-1
Sergio Garcia: 60-1
Retief Goosen: 100-1
V.J. Singh: 100-1
Ryan Moore: 100-1
Justin Leonard: 150-1
Ricky Barnes: 150-1
Mike Weir: 250-1
