Ode to Earth

Lori Berkey
Earth Day 2009 is April Twenty-second

A call to be nice to the planet we can all beckon

Folk song "Blowin' in the Wind" has environmental answer

Cause wind as an energy source reduces global warming and cancer

Before we toss something out

Let's think about going another route

Recycle that holey old shirt into a dust rag

And say, "No thanks, I don't need a bag."

Before we turn the key to start our gas-guzzling SUV

Let's consider the consequence to eternity

Riding a bicycle is an earth-friendly way to get from here to there

And a way to show the planet that we really do care

Instead of using a lot of pesticide

Let's grow organic, worldwide

Dumping toxic waste does harm that can't be seen.

Come on, let's all go green!

Very nice, wonderful poem and I wish more people felt the same and realized the impact a single human has on the Earth!

Echo the sentiments - of course! Every day should be Earth Day!
