Ode to My Lord

S. E. Masters
A boy will ask...

Oh my Lord
your throne is the highest -
but what do you do every day?

Can you see your reflection's glory?
Do you tremble at the sound
of your own mighty and powerful name?

Do you know what your day is like
before it even begins?
And do you have a supernatural watch
that tells you what time it truly is?

Is there an anointed ocean
where you can take a Holy Royal bath?
Is your first meeting with all of heaven
where angels receive their daily tasks?

Are there many servants
that clean and prepare your meals?
When you leave your glorious mansion
do you walk, fly or use wheels?

Does Satan meet with you daily
to gloat over our sins and dreadful shame?
Is Jesus sitting there quietly listening
knowing that he has taken all of the blame?

Do you call out the names
of the souls you're about to save?
Are you rejoicing over your Will
when each prophecy is fulfilled?

This universe is so vast and mysterious
are we your only concern?
Who's in charge of making the lakes of fire hotter
for that day when the wicked shall burn?

A man will know that...

It's apparent what you do each day;
more evident with each breath I take.
You give the brokenhearted
and the outcast hope,
and your saints more ways
to grow and develop.

You allow access to your altar
both day and night;
there we lay all that trouble us
and in you we delight.

Your Spirit reminds us to sing and praise
and to lift up and exalt your Holy name!

You lead us
to hungry and thirsty souls.
Then give us wisdom and understanding
to share your precious gospel.

You bless our homes and our kids;
supply all we need to live.
You shield us from snares pitfalls and hurt;
you've ordered your angels to be on ready alert.

You strengthen us to get up when we fall;
forgive our mistakes while wrapped in your loving arms.

But it's your love
that makes your way perfect.
Your perfect love is pure.
Your pure love is faithful each day;
faith in your love keeps us secure.
Your love is known at the summit
and is waiting even in the abyss.
Through the love of Christ,
the flight to heaven
I do not want to miss.
