Spicy, icy red sauce peeking through
Cold, hard, white crust
I handle with care.
Four hundred degrees?!
You steam in protest
As I shove you inside, scorch you,
Shut the oven door. Wait.
You are glorious, sir.
Hot! Hot! Hot!
Scraping, lifting, sliding
C'mere a minute so I can smell ya.
Shiny silver circle, blade
Piercing, slicing, stripping--
I'm sorry, my darling--
Let me cool you with my breath.
Don't worry, my dear.
Soon, soon you will rest
In a special chamber
Safe, cherished.
Ignore those teeth,
Mashing and tearing,
Chomping, chewing
Pulverizing you out of love!
Do not fear
The dark tunnel, rising bubbles--
Humming, singing indigestion--
The seething, soothing antacid (gentle Mr. Tums).
Now relax, my dear.
Relax. Finally,
Break away, melt in farewell
You are a piece of peace.

Post a CommentI just eat them cold when I'm in a hurry. LOL Funny stuff.
Very humorous. I'd love to see how you handle the toppings.
I just ate and now I'm craving pizza! Oh, yeah, I was kind of relieved you didn't follow the pizza's path to the final exit! ; ) Fun poem.
Where is the pepperoni ?
I wasn't hungry before I read this... and now I am... and it's 11PM!!! O well, I'll just name the pound I gain after you, then. ;o)
Mmmmm, pizza! Creative and funny!
Mmmm, pizza! :)
I should know better than to read food articles when I'm hungry. My doc sent me home with half a Donato's pizza the other day (freebies from drug reps probably)...delicious! Have to decide between leftover roast or pizza tonight...hmmm.
Kinky.... 0_0'
I'm just starving...
