To honor the milestone, I thought it fitting that we show our gratitude to Starbucks for how they have impacted our lives over the last 40 years.
-Starbucks made "Barista" a household word
-Starbucks made business school students (like me) stay up nights unravelling the concepts behind buyer behavior. Why would someone pay $3.00 for a cup of coffee when they can get it for $0.50 somewhere else?
-Starbucks demonstrated that businesses could grow and be humane at the same time by offering part-time workers health care benefits.
-Starbucks made us feel international and exotic for brief moments every day when we ordered our Venti or Grande Caramel Macchiato
-Starbucks made us understand that there was value in ambiance, fresh flowers, wi-fi and daily newspapers outside of our homes.
-Starbucks made us feel special when they labeled our cups and called our name.
-Starbucks reminded us that there can be too much of a good thing when we saw them in supermarkets and on airplanes.
-Starbucks showed us how to recover from mistakes when they shuttered over 600 stores after a hasty expansion.
-Starbucks reminded us that we are like to blend our music and charitable giving with our beverages by giving away the ultimate mix tape of U2, Dave Matthews Band, John Legend and Playing for Change in 2009. Between Starbucks and their customers, the Starbuck RED campaign has donated enough to pay for 18 million daily doses of medicine to help fight HIV/Aids in Africa.
Having said all that, I must admit that I am not a coffee drinker. I do, however, drink tea!

Gotta watch Fight Club again Deb.
cute
Bravo! They have really been quite a business model that many could learn a lot from! :)
And their cup was the only iconic logo featured in every scene in the film Fight Club! Nice tribute!
I didn't realize they'd been around for so long.
