"In the fierce storm we found a shing island. Thank god we were still alive. On the shore, we lit a fire, dried our clothes, took some barley that are left in the broken ship to eat, and waiting. Finally, a giant with wings came. The giant had a magic wand on his right hand and a fire torch on his left hand. He was wearing a blue cloak and a white coif. When he saw us he flew from the top of the cave before us with a smiling face, just like a hawk hovers on the top of its nest and roars over to catch its prey in the night.
In the darkness the giant introduced himself to us, he was the god of fate, the son of Morta, the master of the island of Java, Thethlumth. I spoke up in reply:
'We are from Ithaca. The city of Troy is destroyed in our hands. On the island of the Cyclops we blinded his eyes of the Cyclops and escaped. Because the pride in my heart, I provoked the Cyclops and told him my name. The Cyclops prayed to his father, Poseidon, that I will never see my home. Poseidon sent a huge storm and it brought the survivers and me here.'
'I'm the god of fate, I control the fate of all living things. I can alter the fate of all living things. Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, would you want to know your fate? The blind Cyclops put a curse on you and Poseidon will never let you go free. You will never see your home and you will lose all your companions. That's your fate, my guest'
I was sad and distressed. Tears came down my cheek like spring. 'Why? Why can't I see my wife and my home? Why do I have to survive alone? Why do you treat me so badly?' I bemoaned my fate, and put and head in my arms, weeping.
The giant shook his head and sighed. 'That's your fate, that's the result of blinding the son of Poseidon and angering him. My guest, please accept your fate.'
'If I can't see my wife and my home, I would rather die in the sea.'
'I can remove the curse to alter your fate, but you must have a fair sacrifice for every god once you get home for the forgiveness for you mistake.'
The giant waved his magic wand and murmured the incantaion. The storms rose, the clouds gathered in the sky, and here came a wind. Faintness came to my head and I fell down on my head ...
When I woke up the next day, I didn't know what happened after I fell asleep, and none of my men could tell either. The only thing I could tell is when we sail on the next day, the sea was calm and tranquil.
