they seemed so warm and strong,
but there was a chill upon your hand,
that told me something was wrong.
You smiled upon me, as if to say
"goodbye for now, and you will be okay."
And though it seemed as though my heart had been torn from my chest.
I could never forget that love I felt that day.
So many years of tumbling and falling,
struggling to remain upon solid ground,
I'd look back to still see you smiling,
feel your comforting breaths in the whispering wind's sound.
There the woman who had held me in her womb
facing yet the same battle to try to survive.
Her tears flowing as she lost her silken strands of hair,
but fighting hard to remain alive.
I looked up into the heavens, looking for an angel
to take all of her pain away
and I cried out loud that I would take her place,
so she wouldn't have to suffer another day.
I dreamed of her smile and her laughter,
felt her love within my soul,
and she carried my words along with her,
in her angelic role.
The strength was granted to her heart,
as she fought only to win.
Her health slowly returning,
from all of the pain she had been in.
I looked up to the heavens,
angels filling the skies.
Thank you my sweet aunt for being there.
Thank you for soothing my cries.
I looked beside myself,
to see my mother still standing there,
and we laughed and danced together.
and her loving soul filled our hearts,
with the many more years we'd be able to share.
