Offerings of Life

A Native Dream

April Higney
She tried desperately to focus,

her head pounding, eyes blurred.

A dream, unusual,

invading thoughts,

the chanting,

drums she heard.

Faces changing,

expressions shifting,

dancing,

feathers swaying,

fog lifting.

Earth tone colors,

a fire burns,

smoky trails lifting,

formation of hands,

time turns.

She reaches to touch,

as it slowly fades,

raindrops, and cloud shades,

the sun still there,

the moon in view,

each face changing into someone new,

gathering round

the drumming sound.

A hand holding out a single seed,

leafy sprouts, emerging yellow and green.

She wonders, what it must mean.

She tries to focus,

head pounding,

eyes blurred,

a dream,

invading thoughts,

chanting, drumming,

voices,

offerings of life heard.

Eyes out of focus,

yet they clearly see,

faces changing,

expressions shifting,

dancing,

feathers swaying free,

head pounding, yet the mind vision so clear,

chanting, drumming,

beauty of a dream, she can still hear.

OOOOH, I love this. I can definitely equate it to similar experiences. I think it is my Native American spirituality trying to make itself known. Great work.

Thanks so much Kyla and Donna! Appreciate your comments so very much, now if I could get a break to breathe deep and time to show appreciation and comment more with sweet AC partners it would be wonderful. (I need a 30 hour day at least!!!) =)
