Office Peeves

Ever Wonder How the People in the Office Get Where They Are Today?

Lindsey
I recently started accounting work about two years ago and it never ceases to amaze me the dumbest things people do at the office. I don't have a degree, but only a high school diploma, and sometimes I feel stupid next to everybody else at the office because in my mind I think they are smarter than me because they have a degree and experience in their field. It's not until recently I took a second look at my thinking this way when I started to notice how dumb people around me can truly portray themselves to be. Some of the smartest people have absolutely no common sense and here are some perfectly good examples why. To define this kind of behavior from people in a better sense, I would define these actions as being just plain lazy.

The stapler

When it's empty fill it! I know there is a lot of different staplers that have different sized staples, but the boxes have the sizes written right on them and I'm pretty sure you are capable of reading. If not, there is always the trial and error method to get the correct staples into the correct gun. b)When it's jammed fix it! Oh, my bad, I guess some people are mechanically inclined.

The papers by the printer that have no purpose

If you are standing at the printer and decide you don't need something, there is usually a trash can nearby you stare at every other day when you are standing there waiting for your print job. So guess what? Throw it away man! Don't leave a mess for somebody else to sort through. Do we need a talking trash can that will remind you?

Putting files back where they belong and alphabetically

Okay, people all I can say to this is you learned your ABC'S by second grade or should have, but don't hurt yourself if you find this task to be too difficult.

Coffee machine

I don't know on how many occasions I have seen someone go into the kitchen to get coffee only to find the coffee is empty. After discovering this, they walk away and go complain to every working employee there at the office that the coffee is always empty and whoever should be making it regularly is not doing their job. The way I look at it is, all that time you wasted complaining you could have already made it yourself and probably already had some in your cup. I'm sure the person who usually makes the coffee has other important tasks at hand and can't just watch the coffee to make sure it is full 24/7 so stop being such a whiny, spoiled baby. It comes prepackaged with filter and all for crying out loud and all you have to do is lift a finger and press "Brew."

Leaving the printer empty of paper

This is the kicker of all kickers and my number one most hated action. When somebody is doing a print job and the printer runs out of paper, they will only place a little bit of paper into the printer to finish their print job. How does this make sense? You already opened a stack of paper, you already have the paper drawer open, so why not place what paper you can in there to the max it will hold? Or another is when somebody actually finishes their print job and then sees the red flashing light that warns you the printer is out of paper, but then they just walk away and leave it empty. Why not go ahead and fill it? You emptied it didn't you? You can't get any more dumber or lazier than that.

The observation of this article is if you are just that plain stupid and can't figure these things out, then just hang it up. If you are just that plain lazy, then get your head out of your you know what.

All of those, plus in the rest room (won't say which gender), if you dry your hands on a paper towel toss it toward the trash can and miss...why leave it on the floor for someone else to pick up a wet, now floor contaminated, towel??? And there's several more I could add to your list, but you covered the "biggies." Rock on!

It's amazing how some office employees act. Makes you wonder if they do this at home. :-)
