Officials Taking New Precautions After 5 Incidents of Sexual Assault at Central Florida Water Parks

In the past month, Central Florida has been dealing with five reports of sexual assualt at the local Water Parks, all separate incidents. 4 out of 5 of the men have been caught; the one who has not been caught is the suspect who molested a 14 year-old girl at Wet and Wild.

With the increase in the crimes, water parks are reviewing procedures and are looking to make some changes.

Walt Disney World has released this statement after dealing with two incidents of sexual assualt in the last month about their Water Park, Typhoon Lagoon:

"We can tell you that we are further increasing the law enforcement and security presence to discourage this type of behaviour." - Andrea Finger, Disney Spokesperson

In relation to this comment, all of the water parks are reporting on having an increase of off-duty officers securing the parks.

Guests to the water parks in recent days have reported that there has been a noticeable amount of security and life guards, including in the pool and around the perimeter.

Orlando News Station, WESH, put out a survey this week asking if due to the increase in sexual assault reports this summer, if people would be changing how often they visit the park, and out of 600 people, 43% said yes, and 57% said no.

While there doesn't seem to be an explanation as to why there is an increase in the number of reported incident of sexual assault at the park this year, the biggest speculated reason is due to the economic downturn. With people down on their luck in regards to the economy, and with the "easy-access" that water parks provide for such predators, it should not be a complete shock that this type of crime is on the rise.

Disneyworld is a pedophiles dream! Parents MUST be on their guard in places like these.

How awful. I hope the increased security can stop this from happening again.

It's really sad something fun like that turns into a nightmare for some. I hope the new precautions help.
