Ohio Careers: Salary, Employment, and Education Info for OH Jobseekers
Topping the list is network systems and data communications analysts with a median annual salary at $73,250. In order of expected growth are the following: physician assistants at $84,420, home health aides at $19,640, medical assistants at $26,350, and computer software engineers, applications at $87,480.
The next five on the list of fastest growing occupations include database administrators ($71,550), comp. software engineers, systems software ($93,470), and dental assistants ($33,230).
Coming in at numbers 11 through 15 we have the following occupations: occupational therapist assistants with a median annual salary at $50,250, physical therapist assistants at $48,290, network and computer systems administrators at $67,710, paralegals and legal assistants at $46,980, and amusement and recreation attendants at $18,120.
Still holding strong with an expected growth rate between 25.7% and 30%, numbers 16 through 20 include loan counselors ($37,320), preschool teachers, except Special Education ($24,540), computer systems analysts ($77,080), environmental engineers ($77,040), and medical and clinical laboratory technicians ($36,030).
Numbers 21 through 25 include nonfarm animal caretakers ($19,550), veterinary assistants and laboratory animal caretakers ($21,700), postsecondary teachers ($64,680), pharmacists ($109,180), and physical therapists ($74,480).
Completing the list of the 30 fastest growing occupations in Central Ohio through the year 2016 are #26 appraisers and assessors of real estate with an annual median salary of $47,840, #27 meat, poultry and fish cutters and trimmers at $22,130, #28 occupational therapists at $69,630, #29 radiologic technologists and technicians at $53,240, and #30 bill and account collectors at$30,940.
As for the industries having the most job openings, the list is a little different. The industries hiring the most people are building and grounds janitors and maintenance with a median annual salary at $21,970 to $23,890, retail salespersons at $20,260, personal care and service workers at $20,160, customer service representatives at $30,290, construction trades including managers, laborers, helpers for installation, maintenance and repair, carpenters, operating engineers, construction and building inspectors, and other construction equipment operators, various salaries, food prep and service at $17,220, manual labor and freight/material movers, $23,110, office and administrative support at $29,720, registered nurses at$63,750, and home health aides at $20,480.
Finally, let's take a look at the industries that currently have the most demand, which some are similar to the fastest growing and industries hiring the most, with some exceptions: registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, inside sales representatives with a median annual salary at $49,410, assistant managers-retail and food, physical therapy assistants, tax professionals at $48,550, delivery specialists-no CDL at $28,330, delivery specialists with CDL$37,730, yard supervisors/specialists, general dentists at $142,090, occupational therapy assistants, outside sales representatives, store managers, and restaurant food service personnel.
According to the Sandusky Register Online, for the month of April, Ohio led the nation in creating new jobs. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 37,300 new jobs were created, the most out of all 50 states. Many of jobs created include seasonal industries, such as leisure and hospitality and construction. The manufacturing industry created more than 12,000 of these new jobs, which isn't considered to me a seasonal industry.
