Top football recruit Trey Fairchild is heading into his senior year at Dublin Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio. He stands five-feet-eleven and a half and weighs 176 pounds. He runs the forty in 4.4 seconds, has a vertical jump of 36 inches, and shuttles in 4.1 seconds. He also carries a good grade-point average of 3.7. A sought-after football athlete prospect, Fairchild has already given a verbal commitment to Syracuse in June.

High marks and rankings
Scout.com called him a "very gifted player" who "has (the) size and a knack for getting into the end zone." He ranked number 39 on Rival.com's list of top football athletes for the 2008 prospective class. In the state of Ohio, he was ranked number 30 of 50 by the same web site.

Program choices
Trey Fairchild had several offers from many schools, including Ball State, Duke, and Navy. He was interested in a few other programs at Boston College, Louisville, Maryland, Ohio State, and Northwestern.

Off to Syracuse
The football athlete chose Syracuse over his other offers, telling CuseConfindential.com in June: "I love all of the coaches when I visited there. It was just like a family -- I just felt really comfortable with them and obviously football is a big tradition there. All the players where real friendly and I just want to help out. Coach Russ was great; I have a really good relationship with him just talking to him all the time." The academic programs at Syracuse were another reason why he chose the school. "I am just looking to play and have a good time and get a good education," he said.

Fairchild is also happy to have been in contact with several of his up-coming teammates. "I still have to call Cody (Catalina)," he said. "He called me a couple weeks ago, but I have just been too busy... I have not got to call him back, and I talked to Ryan Nassib about a week ago."

Stats
As a sophomore at Coffman High, Trey Fairchild had 308 rushing yards with 34 attempts, and four touchdowns. His longest run was 70 yards. As a junior in the 2006 football season, he ran for 280 yards with 21 attempts, averaging 13.3 yards, and scored three touchdowns. He also had 766 receiving yards, averaging 15, 51 catches, and had six touchdowns. His KOR was 156.
