Ohio High School Football Linebacker Nick Schneider

Buckeye Man
Prep inside linebacker Nick Schneider heads into his senior year at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Standing at six-foot, three-inches, this player weighs 225 pounds. He runs the forty in 4.7 seconds and carries an impressive 3.9 grade-point average. His junior year, Schneider had six forced fumbles, three sacks, and 115 tackles.

Overall, Nick Schneider said in December that he was not just looking for a football school but a good academic program as well. "My first criterion is what a school has to offer me for education," he said to EagleAction.com. "As far as the coaches, I'm looking for more out of their personality than just football. It's important how they treat their players and what they can teach me in terms of life lessons."

College choices
Schneider is interested in a variety of college programs. He has been looking at Big Ten schools like Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio State. He is also interested in Boston College, Ohio, North Carolina State, and Miami (Ohio). The linebacker from St. Xavier has yet to receive any offers.

He has made two unofficial visits to Michigan - once attending junior day and another to watch the Wolverine's spring practice. He told TheWolverine.com in March that he liked Ann Arbor and the atmosphere of the Big Ten school. "I loved it. It was great. It's great just to see football again," he said in March. "I learned their scheme and defense at the junior day, but it's just nice to see the way they move their players around and stuff like that at the practice."

Also in the spring, Nick Schneider went and watched a spring practice at Ohio State. He told BuckeyeGrove.com that he "loved their practice. I like how the linebackers are coached. I actually learned a lot just standing and watching. Their drills were intense." Schneider also had a spring visit to Miami (Ohio) and was expect to camp at NC State.

In September, he began to attract a lot of attention. He told BuckeyeGrove.com, "I have mail from Boston College, Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame, and a little from Wake Forest," he said. At that point, he was not particular as to what school he was looking at. "I've always been a Notre Dame fan and Boston College. But I'm open to anyone."

In December, he talked about his interest in Boston College to the web site EagleAction.com. "I love Boston College as a school, I would be very excited if they were to offer," he told the site. "I'm very interested in taking a visit there sometime in the spring or summer. Aside from that, Boston is a great city; I'd love to go to school there."
