Ohio State Buckeyes' Top 5 Football Decommits

Ohio State doesn't really have a problem with decommits. In fact, players tend to decommit in herds to come to Ohio State. There are two players that are reported to have decommited from Ohio State that would have made substantial contributions in the coming 2012 season, but dozens more have decommited from other schools to come to Ohio State.

Urban Meyer has been a recruiting machine, and it shows.

Kyle Kalis

Kalis, an offensive tackle, is the guy who has supposedly decommited from Ohio State for the 2012 season. He is the only one being reported to do so in any recent time. To really rub salt in the wounds, it is being said that he decommited to head to the one team that makes the Buckeyes' blood boil: the Michigan Wolverines.

The former St. Edward High School star spoke of his decision to decommit. According to Kalis, "I can't go there (Ohio State) and take penalties for something I never did. Ohio State is a great program. I'm just not sure how long it will take them to recover. I want a solid, grounded coaching staff with a safe environment. Where there aren't such tough questions." To be fair, Kalis does have a valid point.

Tommy Schutt

Schutt, a defensive tackle, is headed in the other direction. He is a 2012 Penn State decommit headed to play for Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes. ESPN says that Schutt "had 14 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, 19 batted balls and one interception this season for Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, Ill." This is definitely someone that Ohio State can use right now.

Se'Von Pittman

Pittman,a defensive end, is another player who was swayed by Meyer's finesse. He is saying he will now play for the Buckeyes for the 2012 season and has decommitted from Michigan State to do so. "My official visit was great," said Pittman of Ohio State. "I got to sit down with the guys and talk to coach Meyer...For me to leave a coach like [MSU's Mark Dantonio], [Meyer] had to be a great coach and a great person too and everything he told me was what I wanted to hear to be comfortable enough to [decommit from the Spartans]."

He ranks third in the state and 95th in the nation.

Ejuan Prince

It is being reported that Prince, an Ohio State linebacker, decommitted and asked to be let out of his National Letter of Intent. OSU accepted his plea and let him go for the 2011 season. He reportedly was going to head off and play at Pittsburgh. It was later reported that he was accepted at Pittsburgh and deemed eligible to play in the fall for the Panthers.

Taylor Decker

The offensive lineman originally committed to Notre Dame, but has since decommitted and switched his sites to the scarlet and gray for the 2012 season. At 6'8 and 313 pounds, Decker is offering the size and strength that the Buckeyes offensive line needs to turn around the disappointment felt last season.

He ranks 12th in the state and 221st in the nation.
