Ohio State Fair visitors can help local food banks when they choose to eat at the Ohio Poultry Association's booth in the Taste of Ohio Café.

For every kid's meal purchased at the poultry booth, the Ohio Poultry Association will donate one dozen eggs to a local food bank. Additionally, the OPA will offer breakfast one day only, August 2 from 5:30 AM until 9:30 AM. Each breakfast purchased that day will result in one dozen eggs donated by Ohio's egg farmers.

The Taste of Ohio Café is open daily from 10:30 AM until 8:00 PM throughout the run of the Ohio State Fair.

The OPA's poultry booth offers products from Ohio's egg, chicken and turkey farmers. Chicken nugget meals for kids, Thanksgiving-style turkey dinners, salads featuring chicken, turkey or chicken salad, chicken and noodles and the ever-popular egg-on-a-stick are featured. Page four of the Ohio State Fair discount coupon guide found via this article features a coupon for $1 off of the Thanksgiving-style dinner!

In Ohio, more than 1.5 million people live in poverty and 21 percent of those are children.

With Iowa as the first, Ohio is the second-largest producer of eggs in the United States, producing more than seven billion eggs every year.

By choosing a high-protein meal from the Ohio Poultry Association in the Taste of Ohio Café, Ohio State Fair visitors will be helping to make a difference.

I learned recently that our local Interchurch Social Services branch in Centerburg also accepts egg donations from local farmers.

Awesome! The food pantry here in Chillicothe accepts egg donations from local chicken farmers too. When my production picks up, I'll be donating some.
