Ohio Tea Party Candidate with Nazi Fetish, New York's Paladino on Anti-gay Rant, What's Next?
More Tea Party Ugliness Comes Out of the Closet..
Ohio Tea Party candidate likes to run around on weekends re-imagining the devastation of Eastern Europe by the Nazis.
Christine O'Donnell of Delaware is on tape seemingly caught somewhere in between an unhealthy fascination with the "evils" of masturbation and the myth of wanton debauchery associated with witchcraft.
Sharron Angle in Nevada talks about people dealing with autism in air quotes and doesn't want them covered by insurance. She claims Dearborn, Michigan and a non-existent Texas town have been taken over by Muslim Sharia Law.
Colorado Senate Tea candidate Ken Buck thinks a good reason to vote for him is because he's "not a woman."
Rand Paul thinks the Civil Rights Act shouldn't tell private businesses what to do, he thinks they should be able to run their places as they see fit, even if that includes discrimination.
One by one, every Tea candidate that gets national attention is exposed as something far different from just a "fiscal conservative" concerned about spending. When they are forced to look into a mirror that others can see too, the reflections are often very ugly and hateful.
I've long said that teabaggers ranting about freedom are concerned with nothing of the sort. They imagine freedom and liberty to be something entirely different than most people do. The freedom to be like them and the liberty to follow their beliefs and religion is fine - just don't be different, mind you.
The views and actions of the Tea candidates and many of their supporters is indeed despicable. The only person listed above who could possibly draw any sympathy is Ohio congressional candidate Rich Iott, who dressed as a Nazi during re-enactments. Read the story in The Atlantic here.
War re-enactments are something many Americans do, and learning about history is a good thing. Still, the unit the group Iott was in re-enacted wasn't exactly admirable. Not regular German military, but Waffen SS. At Nuremberg the Waffen SS was dismissed as a criminal organization and many of it's veterans were denied benefits given to regular German veterans. Why did Iott's group want to emulate them?
The reality is, when Tea candidates and darlings are looked at in the light of day, they lose their corporate-crafted image of valiant reformer. It's understandable that many Americans are frustrated with government and the economy. The answer isn't to take a hard right, but to consider progressive programs to put Americans to work and secure a stable economy.
The best chance Tea candidates have for winning seats is for the election to happen soon. The more time goes by, the less attractive and more reprehensible they look.

Post a CommentAnd Julia, your comment "The TP candidates are freaks. They are making politics a sewer" is living proof you are not a warm, inclusive person ya like to pretend you and your ideology are. Frankly in general the most hateful, dismissive and unkind of all political wranglers are progressives, and your typical comment is pretty clear evidence.
Carol, your decency and honesty is lost on Mr. Musall. If he were honest, or informed, whichever applies, he would know the Wiking Division is historically important. And he'd know, again, if he wanted to present the accurate facts fairly, that usually the guy reenacts Americans, but for this specific reenactment was asked to play on the German side. But even if he'd been a member of the Wiking Division society, it's not a crime or untoward in any way - certainly no more so than Mr. Musall forwarding how wonderful all things USSR were. A little reciprocity Jeff?
Sort of, Carol - I don't have a beef with historical reenactments, but just questions about why that particular unit - kind of like deciding to do a Vietnam reenactment and deciding to "play" the unit involved in the My Lai massacre...
I would cut the guy doing the Nazi reenactment a break. What he was doing appears to be no worse than a stage actor dressing the part of a Nazi to perform a play. My understanding is that the reenactment was to explain a historical event, not to suggest that people emulate the perpetrators.
Let’s make sure I get this right, THE TEA PARTY – are Freaks, Crazy, Mad, Ignorant, Scary, Rant, Stupid, making politics a sewer, despicable, reprehensible, Just from comments, and your article…WOW, You and your followers must be the most intelligent people on this earth… So ask yourself a question...WHY ARE THEY WINNING
The TP candidates are freaks. They are making politics a sewer
There's also Joe Miller, who is now refusing to answer questions about his personal life. He's running for Senate in Alaska.
And Ken Buck is haunted by a rape case, which he refused to prosecute, apparently blaming the victim.
The entire country is going mad, due to some of the 'mad' leaders to be who think they know it all and one of them is a woman!
These Tea Party people are really crazy and ignorant, and therefore pretty scary. The only hope is that the more they rant and sound stupid, more voters will get the point and ignore them.
Ugh, what a rogue's gallery! Thanks for putting it all together.
