DP: Who are you (by that tell me a little about yourself including personal stats like age, place of birth, etc...)

MT: I'm a happily married mom of 6 (4 natural & 2 gifts;I call step-kids gifts or just my kids because I don't like the term "step" kids - they're all my kids). I'll be 30 this year, but my kids keep me feeling like I'm one of them. I was born in upstate New York, but grew up mostly in Denver. We moved to Houston about a year and half ago and are loving it. I've been writing since I was a preschooler and will only put the pen down for a keyboard. Of course, I still pick up the pen here and there, too. "Old habits die hard".

DP: What initially drew you to AC? Or, How did you hear of AC?

MT: I was surfing the web for legitimate writing gigs and came across an ad for AC. At first, I thought it was just another work at home scam. Once I visited, I knew I had to join and that AC was exactly what I was looking for. Being a stay at home mom who also homeschools the kids, I needed something with flexibility, but that also offered the opportunity of creativity and brainpower, as well as payment that catered to my own efforts.

DP: What genre are you wanting to publish the most?

MT: Information on education, homeschool, and parenting are what I write the most about. However, I have many other interests and plan to publish more on those subjects, as well as continue with my specialized subjects, to create a more balanced variety of topics in my AC library.

DP: What are your favorite titles so far?(Don't be modest.)

MT: Wow. I currently have hundreds of articles on AC, so that's a tough one. Here are some of my favorites and/or ones that have gotten great views and/or interesting comments, in no particular order: "Barack Obama Speaks Up On Hillary Clinton's Texas Ad: Thoughts From A Texas Voter", "Does Barack Obama Support Homeschool?Should Homeschoolers Only Vote For A Pro-Homeschool Candidate?", "Homeschooling To Get Positive Social Interaction", "Homeschool Myths: Homeschool Kids Are Too Lazy For Real School", "Tools of the Mind and Self-Regulation Learning: Does It Work?", "Can a Parent Be a Homeschool Teacher Without A Degree?", "Is Lead Poisoning causing Some cases of ADD, ADHD, and LD?", "Can Adults Benefit From Drinking Breastmilk?", and "Classroom Separation By Grade Levels: Time For a Change?". (...and folks; may I recommend this one too? This kids got mad skills!-DP)

DP: How has AC Treated you so far?(Support, that is)

MT: Excellent. I haven't had to request much in the way of support from AC, but the few times I needed assistance, I was happy with the results.

DP: Where else have you been published?

MT: I have been published on Helium, mommy.com, on my own blogs (if that counts - LOL), and I also have a parenting book published at Lulu.com. I also take private assignments and am pursuing printwork as well.

DP: Please tell us about your favorite pet.

MT: We don't currently have any pets, but all of my past pets were my favorite. I couldn't pick just one. Pets are like people to me, in that each one is unique and special for different reasons. My last furry pet was a cat named Misty (named for her color that resembled the clouds on a misty day). My mother now cares for Misty because our asthmatic kids became allergic to her and she loved my mom, so it was an easy adjustment for her.

DP: What would you do with a million dollars?

MT: I would invest some, save some, buy a piece of land, give some to close family and friends, and help people in some way.

DP: In 100 words or more; where do you want to be when you're 50?

MT: Great question. By the time I am 50, I would hope that my early learning center I plan to open in the near future is still going well. It will cater to young minds that don't have the opportunity to attend higher priced learning centers. I also plan to have many more books and other pieces of content published by that time. If any of our kids grace us with grandkids, we will likely be spending quality time with the kids and grandkids as often as possible. My husband and I also plan to travel the world. If the kids and grandkids can join us from time to time, that would be excellent. I also hope to have done many things to help others. Helping others is my number one priority in life, besides God and family.

DP: What is you're favorite quote about writing?(and who get's the credit?)

MT: "If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, you must be the one to write it." - Toni Morrison

DP: If you had any advice for newbies to get better exposure, what would you say?

MT: If you want to get noticed, you can't just write and hope someone will see your work. The internet is a big place. I have used many different promotion techniques. There is no exact formula because what works for one individual may not work for the next. Good keywording is the best place to start. Then, from there, you have to try different things and see what works for you. In addition to keywording techniques, I use MySpace, blogging, various forums, and more to promote. It all depends on your approach, your subject matter, and your target audience. Experimenting with a variety of methods will tell you which methods work best for you. It doesn't hurt to get friendly on AC either. I found that out by accident. I'm naturally a friendly person and I treat AC as my family. I love coming to AC to just read articles or help or share thoughts in the forums. Although promotion wasn't my intention when making friends and reading articles here, I found it to be beneficial in gaining readership. I don't leave comments every time I read an article, but I find that when I do, some people will be kind enough to return the favor. If you're lucky, they'll enjoy your work and perhaps even subscribe or come back for more at a later date.
