Oil Companies VS. Fuel Mileage

Earl Pyle
The American public needs to stand up to the federal government and the oil companies, for they are the ones that are keeping the automotive manufacturing companies from making fuel efficient vehicles available to the public.

In the sixties, G.M. "loaned" out several full size cars that were propane powered, with good results. Chrysler work with gas turbine engine, loaning some out to American families to try out. In 1968/69 Chrysler designed a carburetor that, when installed on their V-8 engine could run for several weeks without the fuel gage moving off of full.

Then came the early seventies, and the start of OPEC, gas shortages, the influx of import cars, and the downward spiral of America in general.

The eighties brought the research and development of fuel efficient cars. Chrysler once again began experimenting with gas turbines, Chevrolet made a three cylinder car that achieved 103 M.P.G., things were starting to look up. Just than, our government imposed new safety standards that made these cars to expensive to build, killing them off.

It has been shown time and again that it can be done, and now with all the computer controlled vehicles, the available technology and the engineers that knows how to combine it all, we should all be driving vehicles that gets at least 80 M.P.G..

But the oil companies are allowed to pay off the manufactures, and the ones that can't be bought, our government makes new safety and emission laws that would make the vehicles too expensive to build in mass quantities.

The American public needs to say no more, no more monopolies by big corporations, no more changing the rules to make these vehicles unavailable to the masses.

By letting big corporations make the rules, the public will always be in debt, as they will control the prices and sorry to say, they don't think about the little guy like you and I. We need to hit them where it hurts the most, their wallets!

Not until we make them feel the pinch they have us in, they will not know how it fells to struggle to put food on the table, pay our rent/ mortgage, buy any medicines the family may need and put gas in the car to get to work.

Lets make them feel what we do, it needs to be done, and done NOW!
