Oink! Oink! Round Up Your Pigs and Collect Truffles with the Pigpen in FarmVille

Michael Mann
One by one it seems that the good folks over at Zynga are allowing us players of FarmVille to gather together our animals. This time around it just so happens to be our pigs. Head on over to Farmville and collect your pigpen frame. As with the other buildings, you can collect these building materials from friends or purchase them through using FarmVille cash. Personally, as usual, I will be working with my friends to collect the building materials.

What Good is the Pigpen

After placing the frame on my farm, I took a look inside to see just what materials would be needed to complete the pigpen. The pigpen seems to continue where the tradition of lower cost buildings, requires only eight each of three different building materials to be completed. These are the basic building materials needed for nearly every building so far: brick, nail and wooden board.

Clicking on the "What is this?" link, I was presented with a windows which told me more about the pigpen and its purpose.

"A completed Pigpen allows your pigs to hunt for rare Truffles on friends farms!

Better pigs find higher quality Truffles, and higher quality Truffles can be traded in for prizes!"

So, aside from a means to get players to "gather" together various types of pigs including those for purchase using FarmVille cash, it appears as though the pigpen will be just that, a place to gather your pigs. In the same fashion as those other building I am sure we have on our farm already (nursery, chicken coop, horse stable, etc.), you will be able to only store a limited number of pigs in your pigpen. Hopefully, like the other animal buildings, we will be able to upgrade the capacity through friends assisting us with additional building materials.

How to use the pigpen

Assuming the pigpen works as most other animal housing, the more pigs you have in your pigpen, the higher the chance of finding truffles on neighbor farms, with the higher quality pigs (those other than the standard pink pig) assisting to find higher quality truffles. Whether the truffles work as part of the Tuscan wedding item or as something separate is still to be seen. If the last few additions to FarmVille are any indication of what to expect from the pigpen, I am glad that it is available. I can hardly wait to complete my pigpen and start helping friends to find some truffles.

Get you pigpen frame set on your farm and feel free to add me as a neighbor. Happy Truffle hunting.
