OJ Simpson Gets Canceled

News Corp Just Says "No"

Katie Just

O.J. Simpson will have to find a new way to make a few extra bucks and get another 15 minutes of fame. The book and television special, "If I Did It" have both been cancelled. At least a dozen Fox affiliates have refused to air the two-part special, calling it an "ill-considered project." The publisher that was planning on printing the book is owned by News Corp, the same company that owns Fox network.

"If I Did It" was allegedly a hypothetical rendering of how O.J. Simpson murdered Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown-Simpson, IF he would have done it. Even though Simpson was acquitted in 1995 of the double homicide, Judith Regan, publisher of "If I Did It" said the book appeared to be a confession.

The families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown-Simpson, along with countless other angry citizens, had their say when they lashed out about the television special and book deals.

Amazon.com listed "If I Did It" in their top 20 last weekend, but by Monday, the book dropped all the way to 51. Perhaps that in itself should have served as a sign that this idea was a stinker straight from the crappy ideas department, in the first place.

O.J. Simpson still has yet to pay the $33.5 million dollars owed to victims' families, from the civil suit, and had this book and television special not been nixed, he wouldn't have made anything from it to begin with.

I was looking forward to reading this, hope he finds another publisher. This book will sell like hot cakes, whoever takes the plunge and publishes it will be rich.

I saw Nicole Simpson's sister on the Today Show talking about the book....I think it's horrible that OJ would have the gall to re-hash all this again for the families of the murder victims! How cruel! Anyway, I'm rambling - - great article, Katie!

The really sick part is even though they are not going to show the specials or put out the book he still gets to keep the 3 million advance they gave him!!!

I am also VERY happy that this will not go through! Great job on this article Katie, as usual! Have a great Thanksgiving! :)

I agree, Rhonda. OJ is no where near being within spitting distance of my "People I Like List." He sucks - period. The beauty is that when his time on earth is over, he has to face a far more harsh sentence than man can give him.

    Sickening!

No kidding. I agree. All he wanted to do was gloat about getting away with murder - I'm surprised no one has whacked him yet.

yay! So happy. He doesn't deserve to be published. Even if he did it or not, this was a disgusting way to earn money.
